Cold war part two

E-leck-trick boo-gah-lou

*do do do*

Mac admits he is a fair weather bandwagon jumper, wants the Cubs to win a WS instead of the White Sox.

Sad.

Post here.

I've said it a million times. Mac is a Cubs fan. North is a Cubs fan. bernstein is a Cubs fan. I have no idea why they play Sox fans on the radio. You'd have to ask them.

Bernstein's a contrarian in general, Mac's exorcising bitter youthful memories of 1969, and they're both going for the hipster cred that comes from cheering for the misunderstood and under-appreciated Sox. It speaks to fools like me and allows them to implicitly support both teams while not seeming to be windsocks. Makes them seem moody and complex and inspires talk about the SCORE in places like message boards.

Mac is a Sox fan, who enjoys the Cubs. he just doesnt have the hat or jersey with both teams on it.

North and Bernstein, plus many others, this is the rebel in them! They dont want to be seen as the typical Northsider that people think doesnt know baseball, so they claim to be Sox fans.

You almost never hear Bernstein talk about the Sox , except when he makes fun of them.

North was a vendor at Wrigley and had/has season tickets. (For Bebe  )

I know plenty of guys like them. Went to a game last year with one of them at Wrigley. He walked over with his 5 year old to a game. We got out of work early, I asked if he wanted to go. he said he would walk over with his kid. We are sitting in the sun, his kid having a hot dog and his kid says 'dad, i like it here, its close to home, we can walk here' as my buddy cringed.

You have that backwards.

Cant be a Sox fan if you'd rather see another team win the World Series over them.

Mac said he switched b/c of '69 and Sox looked "different". So, no, he's a Cubs fan that enjoys the Sox. My dad says the same shit as Mac that '69 broke his heart blah blah blah Go Sox. You don't just give up on a childhood team like that. I'd wager there's a lot of old time Sox poseurs.

Depends how old you are. A 7 or 8 year old could probably turn their back pretty quick. By the time you are 11 or 12 it probably gets a bit harder to do.

I dont have any hatred for the Sox. They are just an annoying little brother to me. I was happy for the fans when they won.

I don't have a brother, but it would be annoying when he is the star of the family. I understand what you are saying.

Thanks to 2005  , I no longer have any hatred of the Cubs. I rarely think/watch/care about them. Although with this over the top love of the 2015-16 Cubbies (& Bernstein) I've turned off 80% of the sports radio I once listened to.

I won't be happy for Cub fans if they win, any more than I was happy for Cardinals fans when they won.

Yeah, I should have said my friends that were fans. I dont care about the unwashed masses that typically make up the 7K that show up to a non-BP Cup Sox home game.

I think Cubs fans would have been 10x more obnoxious if they had been the first ones to "End The Wait". So, now I hope they get a World Series trophy. I think it would be cool to see.

I think if the Cubs won one, Id root for the Sox to win one IF the Cubs were eliminated.

But I cant say for sure

All joking aside, I do agree with this. The frat guys and pink hats would have been even more insufferable.

I am a huge Cubs fan, and yet I understand the hatred of certain elements of the fan base. We're one big pathetic family. /Grouphug

2003 would have been horrible. I was at Purdue at the time, and it felt like I was next to Wrigley Field when walking on campus.

I cant even blame any fanbase that acts like that when its something like 8 decades

I would have been a HUGE jerk if the Cubs won first.

I was interested in something, so I just looked up game 7 in 2003. Did you know that Ugueth Urbina got the save in that game?

Not sure I remember that specifically

I know Chad Fox got the W in Game 6. That was referenced when he became a Cub

You wouldn't be much of a fan if you didn't, would you?

It seems a lot of people have very loose definitions of fan. Some guys hope the Cubs win more than the Sox but claim to be Sox fans and other guys never have any desire to watch a sport in person yet they claim to be huge fans of that sport.

I'm a huge fan of George W. Bush. My favorite president. Of course, I voted against him twice. Still one of his biggest fans though.
