One of the interesting things De Castro said was nobody at THE GAME has a contract. I guess they're all just "general employees" like most work places. That makes it easier to change the parts whenever he wants. He probably just has to give a 2 month severance package when he launches somebody.

I assume everyone who left the Score wasn't under contract either?

Yeah. I know.

And I get it from THE GAME's perspective. This thing could be hemorrhaging money after a year. He can't tie up 12 talk show hosts with 2 or 3 year contracts when he doesn't really know if this station is even viable.

I'm surprised that Kap isn't under contract.

You're right, it wouldn't make sense. That's also true because I don't think they want most, if not all the crew they have right now when things really start to get rolling. 2 or 3 guys might lose their job when they get a big name, who probably won't have 2-3 other guys on his show when he takes over.

It's alright, I didn't take it as a shot. When somebody on here does take a shot at me, it's pretty obvious. I think I lead CSFMB in shots taken by the way. I'm proud of that record.

Then de Castro lied. Maybe Kaplan just got more money but not a long term contract.

I think de Castro was saying that "no contracts" goes for his WGN people as well. You know why he can do this? Cuz no other station in town is fighting for these people, so you don't need to give them contracts.

I was reading on Larz's site that Cochran is fine with not having a contract. Of course he is. Nobody else wanted him. I think it's a "show me some ratings and then we'll talk about security" with the Tribune radio stations.

Wasn't he doing afternoons on 560 right up until WGN took him back?

What I found most interesting in that whole piece was DeCastro admitting that he was going for 35-70 with WGN and was no longer trying to skew younger. I mean, I think it was obvious from looking at the lineup, but that he came out and said it was a little surprising.

Kap probably just has a WGN deal, as he does more for them. When THE GAME showed up, he got a little more and they said..DO THIS SHOW for X more...So Decastro just eats his GAME money...

I know when the Wolves started they hired 5 people for everyone 1 job they had. After 3 months of startup, they canned 4 of every 5 people...So 1 ticket director stayed, 1 Sales guy, etc

Bump.

So it's an easy out for Tribune Company. No dead money.

The only one who they have to pay is Meier, & his show wasn't even on the Game. Funny how he's the highest paid person @ WGN, even though he only ended up doing a webcast that probably few listened to.

Garry Meier was under contract also.

But nobody that left the Score/ESPN/etc was.

Blind faith in a dream.

Feel awful for those guys. At least they believed in DeCastro instead of a mahogany table.
