Hebner at 3rd. Bowa at short. That's an old left side of the infield.

Doug Harvey behind the plate?

This video is special because it has Harry's call since he was off TV that Saturday due to national coverage. I loved Lloyd & Lou.

I never heard Wrigley as excited as that, even before Sandberg hit a HR.

I enjoyed the Costas call also.

That's back when Costas was the cool, young guy and this was national exposure for the one game each week that everyone could see.

Vince was very underrated. Met him at a Cub caravan as a youngster. What a great guy.

As a kid,I loved Curt Gowdy & Tony Kubek doing those games. Costas started beleiving his own press clippings. That with some bad botox & he is now a creepy old timer.

My favorite Cub catch phrase was not "hey, hey" but Vince saying "man,oh man" after a tough break. He said it a lot.

I am not misled by the entire marketing season being focused on Wrigley this year and the 100th anniversary thing, so I could easily rip on it, but I have to admit, they are doing a solid job of putting together some cool events, giveaways, etc. but as i said, lets not let it take away from the plan and pressure, as I don't think you can just take off for 3 years and not expect to feel immense pressure building.

I don't know if you seen my post in "offseason",but rumor is the Cubs want to deal Sheirholtz BEFORE the season starts. If they trade him for some more obscure A or AA player(s) that will be ready in 2017,then this has officially gone beyond crazy. Flipping guys before the season. Hell,we may see them lose more then 110 games.

Yep. Quite possibly the pinnacle of cool Costas.

How different relief pitchers were back then

Can you imagine the closer giving up a tying home run and not only staying in, but for two more innings?

Sorry I was too young to appreciate this game and season but glad I didn't die with the Padres series either

I literally had a 48" vertical on that 2nd HR.

that was one of those events you remember the space shuttle crashing or Reagan got shot. i was with some friends who of course were Cubs fans since that's how the NW suburbs roll. a painful experience for me.

You're right.

That should go above Nick. But it lacked the wide-eyed exuberance of youth.

Aged cynicism sapped just enough from it to stop me from jumping and hitting the ceiling like I did with the other two.

I hit the ceiling with Sosa's homerun in the 9th in game one against Fla

After they shocked me and won the Atl series I had that brief moment when he tied it up, where I thought they couldn't lose

They lost 25 mins later

The fuck, Dr Ken?!? For a guy who constantly drives the Ditka Train here, you would think Super Bowl XX would be your #1.

When the Governor abolishes sports at State schools that will move into my top 5.

Great video.

Mount Rushmore of...............LOUDEST moment at (or near) a Chicago sporting event I ATTENDED.
1-Kerry Wood hit game 7 home run NLCS. We were in the Trace tavern and I'm pretty sure the windows broke from the noise.
2-Blackhawks over Wings in game 7 OT last year..twice.
3-1998 Sosa home runs 61 & 62 against Brewers to tie Big Mac
4-1998 Gary Gaetti home run in one game "playoff" game.

Note - Soldier Field then and now sucks for noise due to design.
- I'm sure there's a Jordan moment mixed in but I didn't attend many Bulls games when I was a bandwagon fan and am now an acknowledged NBA hater (racist).

That was a unstoppable force of nature that you saw coming on the horizon for some time. Different kind of excitement.

I'm talking about a moment.

Oh man don't tell Bern Stine that.

And thanks Jimmy, great video... really enjoyed hearing Harry's call of this for two reasons, I never saw this with Harrys call before and he actually sounded somewhat ambulatory which is nice.

Yes, I'm sure Vince & Lou were not thrilled by a 3 man booth. I would have been happy just with them, but I liked Harry, too.
