Anyone playing it?

I have been doing the casino card game and been doing well. Craps seems so attractive and classic. I feel as if I should don Jorr's sport coat and my blonde on my arm and get to that table. Been trying to look into it. As far as odds people seem to talk up this pass or no pass plus 6 and 8 progressive / regressive strategy.

Any input?

$22 is usually minimum bet. $5 on the come, $5 on 6, and $6 on 8 and 9.

Yeah I have been reading 12 on pass or don't pass and then 12 on 6 and 8. then if you hit one cut back to 6 on the 60 or 8 whatever that is and rid that $6 until a 7? I have no idea. Seems to let you play a while but not sure you make a bunch?

Go to the table and watch the dice go around once or twice before throwing money in. Ask questions there! Players and pit workers will fill you in.

Ok online practice. I see what they mean. They mean put X2 bet on don't pass and then after point x2 on 6 and 8. Then if a 6 hits reduce to 1x and if an 8 hits reduce to 1x. and if the 7 shows you cover as well. Seems you can play a while but not make a big score.

I have the "blackjack mentality" so I suck at craps. I don;t have the patience to let my bets sit out there through all of the null rolls.

I feel like I need to put $ out there every roll no matter what. It's fun when the whole table wins though.

If you're trying to reduce the casino edge as much as possible (assuming you don't want to play Do Not Pass), you should work a Pass Line bet and two Come bets all backed with the max odds bet allowed at the table. When you hit at 4 or a 10, you really make some hay. Of course, it's depressing when you have all those bets out there and the fucking 7 appears. At most places, you're odds bets will automatically be off on the come out roll. You can tell the dealer if you want to keep them working.

I really used to clean up on the back alley type of games. I remember rolling big on NYD in the basement at Mc Kellin's and thinking I knew what I was doing. It was like a scene out of A Bronx Tale.

When I got to the legit tables it was like an alien world and I have never really been able to understand it well enough to make it my game.

I've actually spent two NYEs at McKellin's. Are you a Nil Tap guy, dolphin?

Craps requires a huge stash of cash.

I play the pass line and take double odds. After a come out roll where a point is established, I play the come bet (essentially another pass line) for any "new" points and take double odds.

If you are playing a $10 pass line, this strategy will force you to have $30 on the pass line from double odds, and $30 more on each subsequent come bet. I typically take three come bets with double odds, meaning I will have four total points in play.

I'm not an anywhere guy but Nil is owned by family of a former wolfpack teammate and friend, so I am favorable towards it.

You know, it was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure Fritzy owned McKellin's some time before the Nil Tap girls had it. I don't remember what it was called back then.

First time I played, I made three people at the table over a $1,000 during my roll. Because I had no clue what I was doing, I managed to come away with about $20. After that, I haven't come close to a craps table again.

My best craps experience was at The California, in downtown Vegas. My wife wanted to play slots, so I bellied up to the craps table. The girl standing two to my left, had the dice for about 20 or 25 minutes. I made about $500 during her time as the shooter. As soon as she crapped out, I cashed out, and went to dinner.

I like playing at Binion's. The table limits are relatively low compared to The Strip and they offer 5x odds. Most of the tables are staffed by polite Asians, but the table facing Fremont has these chicks dressed in sexy cowgirl outfits with their huge boobs hanging out.

My favorite game in the casino. I dont bet big so I dont typically win big but I almost always have fun.

I do have a problem betting when it is my turn to throw. I always just focus on rolling and I miss out when I get on a hot streak.

My favorite craps table ever was at Imperial Palace. That place is the Mos Eisley of the strip to begin with so you have fun just walking through the door. We were there for a bachelor party so a group of us take over one end of the table. At the other end this jerk comes up in a Canucks jersey and starts rolling. We immediately all switch to DO NOT PASS and make a ton of loot as this asshole keeps rolling shit. We also had a little asian guy at the table that kept quoting Big Trouble in Little China as he rolled.

This is the correct answer; this is what I was taught by 3 ex-pit bosses and 2 dealers that left a local casino to work for the same insurance outfit I do. Actually, I think they kept three numbers rolling from time to time, but two is good.

By definition, taking odds is the best play. On your odds bet, the house has no edge. The more you put on the odds relative to your base bet, the more you minimize the house edge. My only issue with max odds is that it gets really expensive......like someone said when they hit that seven.

Thanks guys. I guess I will wait to try it some after I hit another game big for that starter pile. I can learn on their cash. Denis why if on a $10 table are you "having" to put $30 to improve odds? I also, learned on the odds bets do not buy just place but have no idea why they have lay?

I play double odds, so if your base bet is $10, then your odds bet is another $20. So each number is $30 total. JORR is right that your best play is max odds, but you will see the expense in trying to implement a pass line (with max odds), and two come bets (with max odds) strategy.

Guys love place bets, but they are worse on the payouts. You will learn that people at the craps table just like action. Everyone knows it is among the best odds in the house, but they do not know how to play it to achieve those odds. You'll routinely see fat guys with $3,000 in front of them throwing money all over the table and pressing on bad bets. They use the place bets because they can't wait for the better come bets to occur.

They typically place on 6/8 and take the pass line. Then they started doing hard ways and other long odds bets.

Ok think I have it except for one thing which I guess is not clear from the online games rather than real tables. I read all about odds bets but as I didn't see them clearly on practice table I assumed the place bets were odds bets. So where the hell are the "odds" bets?

Had a similar experience at Silver City in Vegas (now long gone). I was a relative novice playing by myself at a $1 table. I convinced my wife and parents to join me so they could learn the game without any pressure. So we're putting down $1 pass bets, come bets,& eventually minimum odds bets. Technically playing correctly purely from an odds standpoint but also obviously very conservatively as well. As luck would have it, my wife is the shooter and gets on the roll of a lifetime. Pretty soon the table is filled and guys are tossing $20's left and right. We just keep betting the bare minimum. My mom doesn't have a clue as to what's going on, but she's having a blast & they keep pushing chips toward her. After about 25 minutes of this, the guys in suits begin to observe the game and a few minutes later actually step in for the boxman & dealers. After close to 45 minutes she finally sevens out and the whole table gives her an ovation. We're up $150-$200 each. The rest of the table had made thousands. That was probably 20 years ago and I've never came close a streak like it again.

Mike, odds bets are bets placed behind your original bet. That is why you don't see them on the table. If you have two red chips on the pass line, you take odds by placing more chips behind that bet. The nice thing about taking odds is that there is no house edge on an odds bet.

So if the point is a 4 or 10, you get paid even money on the pass line bet. But you get paid 2-1 on the odds bet behind it. Everything in craps is based on the chances of rolling one number against a 7 (or one number against all others). In the case of 4 or 10, you have 3 ways to roll either, while you have 6 ways to roll a 7. Thus the 2-1 payoff.
