Remember they started him at FB to get both on the field?

I have a suspicion the Bears will get Tillman back since Lovie signed Verner.

1 year deal with MD Jennings.

Mundy/Jennings is actually better than what we had, but still very bad. Hope they draft a safety at 14.

The Bears seem to be doing a great job of preparing to go 8-8 next year.

From Bob McGinn of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Quote:
M.D. Jennings: According to STATS, Jennings tied for 227th place in their "Ballhawks." Despite 75% playing time, he broke up merely two passes and, like every other safety, had no interceptions. He has been just kind of out there for two years. Too often, Jennings broke down in the red zone. He gave up a team-high 4½ TD passes. He lacks height, weight and overall presence. At best, he's a third safety. It's entirely possible the Packers won't make him a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent. Grade: D-minus.

McCown to the Lovies, 2 yrs.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 1m
The #Bucs deal for Josh McCown: It’s two years for $10M. He gets $4.75M this year, $5.25M next year.

Good for McCown. He played his good games into $10million. I hope he does well except when he faces the Bears.

Good for Josh. I mean he is going to get killed down there but good for him to get one last payday.

They are saying escalators up to $15m. Agree, good for him.

I wonder if Berns will report Josh's compensation?

I'm glad he got paid. These are his last two years in the league. He could have been a backup for another 5 but that still would have only lead to the 10 million he is going to be getting in 2.

We also see why he was more than happy to jump back into the backup role as soon as he could.

How many Pro Bowlers have the Packers drafted in the past four years?

Just one more NFC team with a better quarterback than Cutler.

This is not at all a defense of MD Jennings. I hope he doesn't start.

Quote:
Out of all the Safeties graded this past year by @PFF, Wright was dead last and Conte was 82nd out of 86. MD Jennings was 67th.

Mundy was 37

Bears signed Domenik Hixon for 1yr (goodbye Weems) and Willie Young. Young is a 3 year deal. Another guy with good pressure numbers, but hardly ever sacks the QB.

I think Emery has done a great job getting guys who can stop the run, and get pressure... but there still isn't a "sack man."

Bob LeGere ‏@BobLeGere 10m
#Bears new DE Willie Young gets $3.95M guaranteed this year in base and signing bonus and base salaries of $2.45 in 2015 and 2016.

According to Pro Football Focus, Young was the 16th-best 4-3 defensive end. His 48 quarterback hurries ranked third and he had a +5.1 grade against the run. Overall, Young was charted for 60 quarterback pressures.

Still think they need a RB.

Find one off the street. I'm sick of the Barber/Taylor/Bush back up shit show the last several seasons. RBs are overrated.

I'd actually like a prospect-ish RB this time around. Time to anticipate forte declining, even though it may not happen this year. It's definitely something to think about.

Or draft one. You are right Hank, no reason in the world to waste millions and yet another bad backup RB.
