Jets +6.5

I like the Jets straight-up, they play at home, were good against the Pats last year and the Pats D will be vulnerable and I dont expect much from Moss

I like them at home, they wont have a letdown like Week 1 last year and are healthy and the Bucs still suck, look for Alexander to have a big day.

Last season, there were 4 games in Week 1 that had a total of 44 or more points, and all went under. In fact, in recent years, Week 1 totals tend to stay below that number, and we have a bit of a cushion here with 53.5 points on the board to play with. Another interesting stat I found - Since 2000 all Week 1 games where the total was at least 45 points the UNDER is 19-5. Also, since Dungy has been the Colts head coach, Indy games have averaged 42.5 points in their September games.

Bush gets all the attention, but I expect the Saints to pound the ball tonight with Deuce McAllister inside, and Bush on the perimeter. As long as they are able to keep the ground game going, that will keep Manning/Colts offense off the field, and the clock moving. That's probably a good thing as I'm not very confident in either defense.

My Play: UNDER 53.5

I completely agree, I said as much in the NFL section. People thinking this game is going to be 38-35 are in for a big surprise IMO. This game will be uglier than people imagine. 24-20 Colts.

I have to get in on one more.

Penn State -17.5 over ND
The fake punt last year when ND was rolling over the Lions causes them to run the score up again. Penn State is better than GT.

Virginia -17
Duke has no chance in the Cavs home opener. Virginia should roll up 50.

California -14
Cal was very impressive destroying Tennessee. CSU had a nice showing last week, but that was against their rivals. They are not in the same class as the Bears.

I think the Dogs will be barking on Saturday.

Miami OH +8.5 vs Minnesota- Minnesota lost a tough game last week in overtime and I watched Miami OH last week, defense kept them in the game and have a good running game to keep this one close.

Miami +10.5 vs Oklahoma- Mostly a fan pick with the Canes, but if there defense can contain the Sooners and the O can put up points can be a close one.

TCU +9.5 vs Texas- TCU is waiting for this game, because a win here could out them in the BCS if they win out and Texas struggled last week and TCU has a defense that will keep them in this game.

Virginia Tech +11 vs LSU- This will be about a field goal game and maybe just one with these team defenses and LSU won 45-0 last week but it took a while and Va. Tech took awhile to win last week, so this should be the best game tommorow.

Couple of Favorites

Boston College-13.5 vs N.C. State- I was impressed with BC last week and they have a star quarterback and the Eagles want to payback their former coach and will want to make this a blowout.

Nebraska -8 vs Wake Forest- I like Wake Forest, but Nebraska played well last week and the Deamon Deacons are without their starting quarterback and the only thing that could hurt the Huskers if they look ahead to USC.

Florida International/Oklahoma State over 54
If Joe Pa ran up 59 on FIU, OSU should have no problem scoring at will. OSU also has a swiss cheese defense.

Boy, am I a dope. OSU is playing Florida Atlantic.

KC/HOU under 37.5

Bad defenses, but even worse offenses. KC won't get into the endzone with that horrendus O-line and little LJ. Houston won't make up the difference to get the over. I'm thinking Houston 24, KC 10 or something along those lines.

Seahawks -5.5 vs Tampa Bay

A bad o-line, aging defense, and a long flight cross country do in the Bucs.

Jets +6 vs New England

I liked this number before Harrison and Seymour were out. Jets keep it close.

Falcons +3 @ Minnesotta

Bobby Petrino's NFL coaching debut, and he'll have the Falcons putting up points. Tavaris Jackson at quarterback + giving points = take the points.

Week 2 Saturday Nights Alright

Troy @ Florida -25

Tebow and Co. are killing time until next week v. Tennessee. Troy QB Hougabook has a hurt hand. Bad news for a QB.

Troy 14 Florida 44

ND @ Penn St. -17 1/2 (43 1/2)

Morelli will torch! Irish secondary. ND will get enough kickoffs to score more than 3 this week. Take the over also.

ND 17 Penn St. 40

Va. Tech @ LSU -11 (38)

Hokies may end up with negative yards rushing this game. LSU oucet gets another 8+ catches. Every yard will be grinded for. Take the under.

Va Tech 12 LSU 24

It is finally week 1 in the NFL Season.

Broncos -3 vs Bills- Losman is still learning and the Bills will try a rookie running back, so Dre Bly and Champ will not let Evans control this game and Henry will break the 100 yard barrier to give a Broncos an opening day win for the first time in 3 years.

Steelers-4.5 vs Browns- I think this could be one of the 2 blowouts this weekend, the Steelers look rejuventated and the Browns don't want to start Quinn yet, and probably don't know who to start, I think the Browns get pushed around in this game.

Eagles -3 vs Packers- I like McNabb and Westbrook to control this game, I know i've heard the Packers D has improved, but I don't like their offense and the Eagles still have a dominating D, the only thing I see stopping the Eagles is McNabb's health, if he is not fully recovered from the injury.

Seahawks -5.5 vs Buccanneers- I think the Seahawks are going to make a run at the super Bowl and I just think Garcia, although played well last season, will struggle in Tampa and Cadillac won't do much as the Seahawks show the season combination of Hasselback to Branch.

Lions +2.5 vs Raiders- The Raiders should start Culpepper, there not and I think the Lions have more offensive weapons.

Broncos -3
Have 2 lockdown DB's in Champ and Bly, making Lee Evans a non factor. Think their D-line makes Lynch's debut a long day.

Steelers -4 1/2
Last season Willie Parker only ran for 46 yards and 2 tds in Cleveland. This season he breaks out and has a solid opener, going for about 100 yards and matching the 2 tds. By the 3rd the crowd will want Quinn.

Under 42 Bears/Chargers
Think most of the scoring comes from the Chargers. Neither teams run game gets going, but LT coming out of the back field with a few catches makes a difference. Rex never gets going with Benson stalled at the gates.

from the greek, 5 mins ago

[/b]Pitt -4.5 Look for Willie Parker to amass 150 yds and a low scoring ugly game Pitt 16 Cleveland 6

Atlanta +3 less of two uglies. Tavarus Jackson is terrible and I couldn't name one of their wide receivers, also their pass defense is terrible, look for J Harrington to throw for 300 yds (did I just really predict that)

Green Bay +3 not sold on McNabb, I think he is going to lay an egg the first couple of weeks, look for the young gun B Jackson to have a suprsingly good running game for GB and for Favre to amazing play a somewhat conservative game

Tennesse +8 should stay away from this one but >td spread for two pretty equal unpredictable teams is too much value to pass up

New England -6 I think Moss is going to have a big game, leave it to Bellicheck to keep quiet the health status of some of his better players, plus I think T Jones is Q and might not play. Jets are still 2-3 years away

Chicago +6.5 I think this is going to be a low scoring affair, Bears will have two key interceptions late that will keep them within the spread, LT is somewhat contained at 102 yds rushing 1td and 63 yds receiving, hester shows no presence on offense and drops the only one pass thrown to him. Chargers 17- Bears 13

Ravens +2.5 vs Bengals- I think the Ravens bring a better offense into this game with Mcgahee and I beleive the Ravens are better then the Bengals as they get a good start to take the division.

Cardinals +3 vs 49ers- The Cardinals swept the 49ers last season, Gore's first game of the year and I know the Cardinals lost 2 key players, but I think new coach Whisenhunt helps the Cardinals have a high powered offense.

Not great picks either here, but Im glad I was wrong about the Eagles and Im still a bit surprised I was wrong about Bears, but the only game I actually bet on was the Titans so I still came up on the weekend at least.
