Nope actually incredibly efficient. It's all about the guaranteed money which is lower compared to their peers in this class

Personally I think Peppers had a worse year than even his stats showed. His sacks came as a result of guys basically running into him. Same with his Int.

He still looks the part and seemed to be physically sound, but in the end, the results werent even close to the money.

I am sure Peppers will love living up there.

Does that do anything to the Bears cap hit from Peppers or no?

What the fuck is Ted Thompson thinking?

This is like faithfully abstaining from breakfast food your whole life and then breaking down and choosing a donut.

It is only 7.5 guaranteed so after we cut him after this year the dead money will only be 2 mil. He'll only have to be a part timer so maybe he stays fresher/healthier? Football is better up there and it's where players go to win a ring so hopefully he'll be motivated.

The problem with Peppers chasing a ring is that he reduces the chance of any team winning one by signing with them.

You know what else is better up there? Nothing.

Yea I hate it too. He'll hit IR by week 3 and we'll forget this even happened

No effect on Bears cap hit.

I don't think so, but I think it means the Bears get to subtract whatever the Packers are paying him from what they owe him. Not positive, though.

He probably won't last 3 years. But it is possible he has a good year or two. Packers now have Clay Matthews and Peppers. That could be a good pass rush for them.

USA TODAY:

Julius Peppers is no longer a Chicago Bear, but he's not leaving the NFC North.

The veteran pass rusher agreed to terms Saturday on a three-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, a person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced details.

The deal includes $7.5 million in guarantees, will pay Peppers $8.5 million in the first year and maxes out at $30 million.

PACKERS: Green Bay brings back Raji

Peppers, 34, has 118½ sacks over 12 seasons with the Carolina Panthers and the Bears, who released him March 13. He primarily has been a 4-3 end but is expected to be a hybrid player in Dom Capers' 3-4 scheme in Green Bay, getting opportunities at both end and outside linebacker.

The Packers are revamping their defensive front. They re-signed B.J. Raji to a one-year, $4 million contract on Friday and plan to move him back to his natural position of nose tackle. They also re-signed defensive end Mike Neal to a two-year, $8 million deal.

The hope is Peppers can take some pass-rush pressure off star outside linebacker Clay Matthews in Capers' scheme, which uses a variety of fronts and features fire-zone blitzes.

For Peppers, the deal means he gets two cracks this year at his old team, the Bears, including one at Soldier Field.

   It is Un-fucking-believable how stupid some GM's are. Thompson is a guy who doesn't like signing free agents, yet he signs an over the hill washed up stiff like Peppers. At least we will get to see Julius dominated twice this year.

At this point in his career, he does fit that scheme better. He's not a great pass rusher anymore, but he's still freakishly strong with average to above average speed for a 3-4 end when healthy. He lacks explosiveness though.

Can I get just one Bear fan on here to at least pretend to be upset about this to make me feel better?

Can't rush the passer from IR. Peppers and Matthews won't make it to the bye week. Maybe they can do commercials together.

MD Jennings makes Conte look like Ronnie Lott. Have fun with him. At least you guys aren't paying him like he's a good player though. Fuckin Ted Thompson. I need a drink.

The only way MD Jennings makes him look like R.Lott is if Jennings slams Conte's finger in a door and it falls off.

What is... the only way MD won't be the least productive safety on the Bears, Alex?

What's the story behind Kirkwood being a Packers fan? I know there are a few dozen knuckle-draggers on the south side who root for the Cardinals or Packers because Great-Grandpa Paddy O'Fuckface would never support a football team at Cubs Park, but you don't see Cubs+Packers a lot.

The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.
