What's the story behind Kirkwood being a Packers fan? I know there are a few dozen knuckle-draggers on the south side who root for the Cardinals or Packers because Great-Grandpa Paddy O'Fuckface would never support a football team at Cubs Park, but you don't see Cubs+Packers a lot.

In my yute I'd go camping with my dad and brothers in northeast Wisconsin near Crivitz so we'd always pass through Green Bay. I'd always see the stadium and decided that's my favorite team. My dad also liked the Packers so that also helped (Though he's more of a casual football fan so his influence was minor). Pretty easy to choose as a 7 year old between Favre and Kramer as well.

The Packers were fucking terrible in the 70s and 80s. So much so that I found them cute and lovable. Never really developed a hatred of them. They are starting to irritate me over the past 20 years or so.

"The teams that have the good quarterbacks are the teams that win. That obviously factored into some of my decision making," Peppers told the team's website of joining Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. "I'm looking forward to playing with Aaron. As much as I disliked chasing him around, I'm excited to join him."

"That's the most important thing. I haven't won a championship. That's where my focus is. I feel like the team is set up to make a run and I feel I can help get it there," Peppers added.

I'd have to imagine Peppers could do some damage, if you know what I mean.

Not really, though:

Out of all the Safeties graded this past year by @PFF, Wright was dead last and Conte was 82nd out of 86. MD Jennings was 67th.

I don't use PFF as a be all end all. I have my own opinions. MD Jennings wasn't better than anyone last year. He didn't make one good play all season.

Just like we have our own opinions on Chris Conte. I don't use the opinions of Packers fans as the end all be all.

Not a be all end all, but how much Christ Conte did you watch? I don't believe that MD was good or anything. But the guys who grade out every single play of every game thought Conte was worse. It's subjective of course, but I doubt they were so far off that they missed Chris Conte looking like a hall of famer.

I watched a lot of Conte and Jennings. Almost every game of each player. Obviously the Ronnie Lott thing was a joke, but in no way do I believe there were 19 safeties that played worse than MD Jennings last season.

I know it was a joke. But I think what's most likely is that they both suck.

Yeah, Im gonna have to agree. Any time you spend $54 million on a guy that gets outplayed by his backup it's probably worse paper than paying an over the hill defensive end $7 million.

FavreFan, I've shifted from hating this contract on Saturday to cautious optimism. McCarthy's and Capers' goal this offseason was to get more versatile and multiple in their looks. Peppers gives the Pack an one year insurance policy against Perry and Neal sucking ass at the new elephant position. He can fill in for Datone or Worthy opposite Daniels too if they don't progress as much as needed. Also Capers said he had to run more vanilla defenses because of all the injuries.

Sure we could've avoided this if Worthy or Datone panned out but jury is still out on those guys. I don't have much faith in Worthy but I still have hope for Jones. Peppers allows Thompson flexibility in the draft to get the best TE, S, or ILB. With only Mosley being the projected LB and 20ish being the borderline too soon for a S I feel more comfortable trading back into the 2nd. Though if a guy like Ebron drops I'd snap the fucker up ASAP.

It's really not bad after hearing the contract details. I'm not really optimistic, because I think Peppers is completely done, but it's essentially a one year flyer on the guy and we had more than enough space to do it. I'm also holding out hope for Datone, he has at least shown some flashes. I kinda wish we would move on from raji but maybe going back inside will help him out.

Every team I guess play the "if" game in the offseason. The secondary has good depth with Hayward, Hyde and House and could be very nasty if those 3 continue to improve offsetting Tramon's decline from age. Mike Daniels already shown he can get pressure and hopefully Datone can become a man and disrupt with his 6'4 size. Really sucks that our only option at DT are Raji, Guion and Boyd. Hopefully they can draft a replace like Tuitt, Ferguson or McCullers (6'7 352!). If the Packers training staff weren't so incompetent I'd say Tuitt but that McCullers guy intrigues the hell out me. Online they said he provides no penetrating ability but plays the run like a man and commands double teams consistently. That's now my guy!

Last season I dont think he played a preseason game so he would be ready for the season. It does seem he gets off the ball solid, quick, but he has no moves. He never could get around , through or over anyone. Even when they moved him around. Even his production sucked as I think it was always a player running into him.

If he has a great season, I still dont fault the Bears for it, as he showed nothing here.

I don't see how anybody can fault the Bears for it. Even Peppers doesn't.
