Three weeks out until what may be the greatest golf event in the world. Should be some interesting
storylines this year with some of the top players in the world either fighting injuries or coming back
from them. My dad got the call from them last night and will be working this afternoon ( a day early ).
Apparently a bunch of members are in early to get ready for their big event called the Jamboree. He'll
be there through the weekend doing a variety of things from moving equipment to driving shuttle cart.
I asked that he give me a scouting report on conditions and also what 17 looks like without the Eisenhower
tree. Also who is in attendance this week that he could see.

Edit -- initial word is that the tree has been replaced by a full sized tree but I should get confimation of
that in the next few days ( i know no one cares about the tree but it would completely change the hole
without something there )

Can your dad sneak you a photo of said tree, or would doing so earn him a lifetime ban?

That's awesome. Damn, I'd love to go there. I've put my name in since they started the lottery and have never won tickets.

I'd like to see a pic of the tree also.

Yeah, he would definitely get canned for that. I am confident he doesn't want to mess up this gig as it may
well be one of the best part time jobs you can get. He also gets a free week pass to the Masters along with
it. :( Per a text last night the tree has not been replaced. Waiting for an e-mail this morning from him
for a few more details.

Thanks T-bone, keep the updates a coming. I didn't think even the Masters folks could replace that tree in this short amount of time.

Not one that size. Apparently they are going to find just the tree they want and bring it in to replace it
no matter the cost. There will be something there for next year

I am going with Bubba Watson to win again, though I think Snedeker has a real good shot to finally get his major.

Saw the season premiere of Feherty where he spent the entire hour with Snedeker. Really good interview
and he basically said he would give up all his titles and the FedEx cup money for the green jacket.

Good stuff with him talking about when he qualified as a amateur for the Masters and how many times he went down to Augusta to play.

Seriously. 50 fucking times in like a 90 day stretch at that course? What a lucky sonavabitch. That might be the one course I would play where price would not be an issue. I'd get another credit card and pay the $2-3 grand or whatever if I had a chance to play a round there.

Feherty is a cool show.

Yeah I dvr Feherty and enjoy going back and watching some of the shows. He is a very good interviewer and really gets people to open up about themselves.

I prefer the US Open to the Masters since I enjoy seeing the pros struggle with tough course conditions.

You're insane. That would be like you saying you prefer the Winter Classic to the Stanely Cup Finals. Both are cool in their own right, but one of them is clearly a notch above the other.

That analogy doesn't hold water. US Open and Masters are both majors. You can argue I guess that one major is worth more than the other, but that would be splitting hairs. When they list your career achievements they list how many majors you won, not how many you won at Augusta.

Obviously Augusta is beautiful, but I found the tournament at Merion last year to be far and away the most fun to watch all season. Seeing guys have to make shots out of thick rough is more exciting than watching guys work their way around a pristine course.

Besides, any tournament that Bubba Watson can win isn't that good a tournament.

I was fortunate to go to the Masters in 2002. If I had the chance to attend one sporting event of my choice, it would be the Masters, without hesitation.

So you enjoyed the first two rounds at Doral this year more than the Masters.

Lame.

Love me some Masters, but depending on where it's being play, I'm with shakes on the US Open...

...give me a Pebble Beach US Open over Augusta every day of the week.

I'm with this also. I love the Masters, watch as much as possible every single year.

But if the Open is at the right course.......but of course sometimes the Open is at meh courses too.

The US Open or PGA should be on the West coast every year. Nothing better than live primetime golf on the weekend.
