Easy scorehead......this was an angelo move. Best available player to cover the bad draft pick.

It still could work out though. Peppers was an absolute beast the first couple of years the Bears had him. If Allen has nothing left in the tank, then the Bears cut him after this season and move on.

Still need improvement in the draft. An improved front 4/front 7 makes the secondary much better though.

I still think Aaron Donald is the correct pick. They may even be able to get him in a trade down now that Dallas signed Melton. He really should be Lovie's wet dream though, so he might not make it past the Bucs.

Do you also know that once the Vikings were out if it last season, Jared Allen pretty much only went after sacks to pad his own stats heading into free agency? So in other words, you are OK with the lazy white guy.

Don't ignore the Giants. They d-line is a shell of itself. Donald has owned the offseason workout circuit. Giants love athletes.

They do need another young rotation player inside. Even though Houston may play some DT, the 3 veteran's have been injury prone. There needs to be a younger player to step into that rotation. I hope they are still seriously considering a DT in Round 1, but, if not, there still needs to be one taken in the first 3 rounds who can be a rotational player.

Given that he's been the poster child of pre-draft workouts, I'd be surprised if he was on the board at #14. I have to think that one of these teams ahead of Chicago will jump on him.

I would think they need to go safety first. It's a huge weakness. The DL signings this offseason means that if they can play together and settle on a rotation the line is fine. Maybe not great, but fine. Every safety on the team is terrible. CB is ok if you can get at least 10-12 healthy Peanut games. LB is going to be really bad again if DJ or Briggs goes down for any extended time. If the goal is to win now, I don't think they can afford to address DL first.

I don't get the Bass love. He was ok in some games but really bad in others. I'm sure there is some potential, but he's not that good right now.

I read that Mosely is dropping due to injury concerns. I had not seen anything in regards to injuries with him.

I'm not sure if it's Bass love as much as it is Shea disdain. I think he has more potential than Shea. Like dolphin said, Shea isn't an NFL player. I think that's clear.

Mel Tucker is the Defensive Coordinator for the Bears in 2014. This comforts me.

So far, yes. But by most accounts, he was in the wrong position. Still willing to see how it goes at LB.


Really though, both aren't good.

It amazes me that the Bears seem to be in a major "win now" mode even though they got a new coach and GM.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it works. However, I'm not sure the organization has drafted strong enough to be able to pull off never trying to do a real rebuild.

I am not sure why you are amazed that the team with the 3rd best offense in the NFL is in a "win now" mode. If that defense can improve from last to even 20th, the Bears could be a real force next season. A lot of work to do still on the D, but you should not be amazed that they are going for it in a league where teams go from worst to first all the time.

But then again, you aren't a real Bears fan anymore so I guess it fits your narrative.

I think way too much is being made on how close they were last year. They only scored 3.4 more points per game than the 15th best offense in the league. They were only .9 more than Kansas City. I just don't see the offense carrying them. It certainly didn't last year unless you are impressed by 8-8.

I don't like the Bears immediate future. I'm sure I'll be proven wrong when they go 12-4 next year right?

The Bears scored the following amount of points in their losses;
32, 18, 41, 19, 21, 20 (2nd down FG), 11, and 28
For all the love McCown got, the 19, 21, and 20 point performances were with him as the starter.

If you score 28 points, your defense should be able to nail down the win. Hell even if the Bears only won the game where they scored 41 freakin points, they would have won the NFC North.
