Quote:
Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star power forward Kevin Love isn't just starving for success. He's also reportedly longing to have his moment in a big-city spotlight—Hollywood or elsewhere.

"A source familiar with Love's thinking [said] it's not just L.A. that is appealing to Love," ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin wrote. "He's enamored with the idea of being 'big time in a big city,' and that list of potential places he'd seek includes New York and Chicago, as well."

Small-market superstar craves major-market home. I think I've seen this Craigslist classified ad before. That's why we can be more than a year away from Love having the option to leave Minnesota and already have an idea of what's going to happen next.

White guys suck at basketball. Why would we want him?

This is why this league is fucked. Teams clearing space for a guy this year or maybe next year or maybe we will try in 2016. Oh never mind the Cubs do that.

Tim Duncan/Kobe Bryant/LBJ/Wade all over again. Not going to happen. Chicago is living off its basketball reputation - no one wants to come here.

Now this is complete bullshit. They have Kobe making a zillion dollars and they can always make a move for Shaq or Gasol or whoever. The Bulls supposedly are hamstrung? BS. If the Lakers can make a trade the Bulls can. NBA blows.

The Bulls will lose out to LA because they wouldn't want to lose Butler or Gibson in the trade. Same old tepid BS from GarPax, except for 2010 when they actually tried to hit a homer.

I would love to have him. The Bulls have the assets to pull off a trade for him.

Though I'd love to see him in a Bulls uniform, I think he's headed to a place where the climate is more forgivable... On a side note, it is strange when ever a big time free agent is out there the Bulls tend to be mentioned as a potential suitor. Carlos Boozer may be the best free agent signing the Bulls have had... In their entire history. Ouch.

Yup. They're definitely not in the category of LAL, Miami, or NY.

If Jerry wants to spent it, he can and should. He has put more money into his investors pockets in the last 25 years then he could ever lose over the next 15!

This isn't even about a team making money or losing money, its about Jerry sending check to investors. He feels if he doesnt keep sending them the annual check, he isn't doing his job.

That's fine, and I suspect they would pay if young talent wanted to sign up here, but I think this is more about guys simply not wanting to come here, money aside.

Bingo.

As I've said before......let me know when the Bulls sign that stud superstar free agent.

Bulls and Bears management just have a weird vibe to them.

I used to be a huge fan of salary caps. But what is going on in the NBA and NFL is just silliness. More trades and cuts are made solely for cap reasons than anything else.

If the NBA didn't have a salary cap, it would be even more competitively unbalanced than now. The Lakers, Knicks, Mavs, and Nets would be the top 4 teams almost every year.

True, but then you have teams in baseball handing out 200 million dollar contracts to one player, then offering to pay some other team 80% of the remaining worth of the contract if they take said player. It's a joke all across the board.

It would be funny if there was no cap though, just to see all the stupid outrage from people when the Nets land LeBron for 5 years/$500 million.

He'd only do that if Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis were in place though.

But then he'd complain that Durant is messing up his rhythm.

Jerry has been willing to spend money many times. He'll he was willing to trade the entire Bulls team for Kobe. The player just has to be a superstar. I would argue Love is one. Everyone but Noah would be on the table. The Bulls definitely have the assets to get it done.

This wouldn't necessarily be a trade situation, would it?

Can't Love opt out of his deal after next year?

Yeah, he is going to opt out. I would still try to trade for him if I could and prevent the risk though, obviously assuming he would agree to an extension. I'm pretty sure he's gonna be a Laker though.

They would trade him before letting that happen. Draft picks and a European sensation would be something the Wolves would want. It will also come down to if the Wolves want to get bad contracts off the books. If they do then they'll take back Boozer's salary. If not you'll see Taj and Jimmy buckets leave too.

They're already screwing this up. I don't think you can assume Minnesota will do the right thing. Kahn has basically fucked up every single transaction that has been made the last three years.

yeah I am with FF here. I don't think you can assume they will trade him.

And why would a team give up assets to get someone they could sign after he opts out?

Because there is no guarantee that he would want to sign with the Bulls when he opts out. If they trade for him they are able to offer him more than anyone. That gives them leverage. Minnesota will be motivated because they don't want to walk away empty handed.
