The additional leverage shouldn't even be a factor. There's no way the Bulls would or should trade for him unless he already agrees to an extension.

He couldn't agree to an extension. Similar to what happened with Deron Williams.

You know what I mean. Wink and nod type situation. Nobody is trading anything of value to rent Love for a year, especially considering how strong the Laker rumors are.

I agree. They have to know before making the deal.

They would trade him before letting that happen.

They're already screwing this up. I don't think you can assume Minnesota will do the right thing. Kahn has basically fucked up every single transaction that has been made the last three years.

True but Kahn was fired last year.

Didn't even know that. Nevermind then, maybe Minnesota is making the right moves now.

I don't know how the Lakers trade for him outside of offering every 1st round pick for the next decade... Any team taking Gasol at this point in his career is not a good decision. Outside of Gasol, I guess Nick Young has some value, but he is only good for instant offense. He doesn't make anyone better around him, and is a below average defender...

I could see Love walking, and being vilified in Minny the same way Marbury was when he forced a trade to break up a future dynasty.

The smart thing for minny is to trade a star who wants out before the last season of his deal, and similarly the smart thing for the bulls or anyone else to do is trade for a young star with one + years left on his deal even without the guarantee of an extension. It's worth the risk, otherwise you'll continue running in place.

Sure, I understand the philosophy, but at this point the major market teams like the Knicks and Lakers have purged everything in the cupboard. Chicago has a few pieces to offer, but they def won't give up Noah. Houston has the pieces too...

I don't even know if Noah is useful if I'm minny. I think love is slightly younger than Noah too. I'd probably start with butler, Snell, Mirotic, and maybe Gibson for contract purposes and to flip him somewhere else down the line. And a first rounder or two as well.

The Bulls are just too hesitant for a blockbuster move... I like the idea of Kevin Love playing for the Bulls, but I don't see them offering half their roster for it.

Yeah I'm conflicted as well. I was speaking as if I'm minny by the way in my last post. If rose is back to form then I do think I give up all or most of my assets.

Oh yeah, Minny would def ask for as much as they can get... I've been of the mind, and this is documented on CSFMB, Rose will never be back to form.

That's why Chicago should make an offer minny can't refuse before he hits the market.

I agree, providing Love says he'll sign an extension here, obviously. Everybody except Noah should be available.

Short of him declaring he'll never resign here, I still think you do it even if he says he will test the market. Either you acquire him now for a steep price but along with a chance for joining the elite class, or you run in mud with your current assets for a year or two and then face off against better cities in a free agent race for his services. I'd rather have him now and let Thibs management and coaching be its own in house recruiting process while Love enjoys success for the first time.

I wouldn't risk it. Unless it's something really small like Taj and a 1st and that's it. It's not worth it to tear this team apart for a year of Love. Just amnesty Boozer(do that anyway), trade Dunleavy and go after Melo.

I've written Melo off. I think swinging for the feces is worth it if it means a chance to offer more cash to love than any other team. And like I said previously, I think love playing under Thibs in this organization will go a long way when he decides where to sign.

Love would become a cult hero here. He is slow of foot speed, and genetically challenged. His deficiencies, theoretically Thibs can improve. All that being said, put me in the vegan camp os doubting that it could ever come to fruition.

If Minnesota is willing to listen the Bulls will be in position to make the best offer to them. I personally would be okay with trading every with the exception of Noah.

The only way this would work is if Rose is healthy and still a star. If that's the case and they were able to bring in Love then they are a legitimate title contender.

If Jerry wants to spent it, he can and should. He has put more money into his investors pockets in the last 25 years then he could ever lose over the next 15!

This isn't even about a team making money or losing money, its about Jerry sending check to investors. He feels if he doesnt keep sending them the annual check, he isn't doing his job.

That's fine, and I suspect they would pay if young talent wanted to sign up here, but I think this is more about guys simply not wanting to come here, money aside.

Bingo.

As I've said before......let me know when the Bulls sign that stud superstar free agent.

Bulls and Bears management just have a weird vibe to them.

The both NEED to produce profits for internal reasons.
Bears need to produce profits to support the family.
Reinsdorf needs profits for his shareholders.
Either one COULD at anytime go for it and spend way above what they have done in the past without going into the negative, but neither will.

That's what minny would probably ask for (eg everyone except Noah and rose) but the question is would GarPax have the vision to jettison young, low ceiling talent (with the possible exception of Mirotic, whose ceiling I don't know how to chart)

Maybe. Hard to picture them having even a chance of beating LeBron James (if he's still in the east) if they don't have Derrick at his best alongside another star ala Kevin Love.

I think they would. The great thing is they would still have money to spend AFTER they amnestied Boozer. Noah/Love would be the best front court in the NBA.

The only way this would work is if Rose is healthy and still a star. If that's the case and they were able to bring in Love then they are a legitimate title contender.

Even if Rose isn't healthy I believe they will be title contender. If they had Love right now they would be a title contender and Rose is out for the season.

Maybe. Hard to picture them having even a chance of beating LeBron James (if he's still in the east) if they don't have Derrick at his best alongside another star ala Kevin Love.

I understand what you're saying. Miami's only weakness is their front court. Adding Love would help the Bulls attack their weakness. They already play them tough even without Rose and any legitimate scoring threat. Love would change that.
