This isn't a Cubs thread. It's about two great baseball men who have worked various places and now simply happen to be with the Cubs for awhile. They can win 83 games in their sleep. Apparently sometimes they stay awake.

I listened to that.....bad, bad, bad. Gotta love how the hosts (BernSTINE and Meat and Rozner) use the stance to appear so much smarter and "in the know" than everyone else. How many years are we into the "THEO AND JED" regime? And how much closer are they to winning a championship? They are going to lose 100 games this year and be terrible, maybe one of the worst teams of the last 20 years. This is progress?

The Genius Crew aren't baseball fans, Cubs fans or whatnot...it seems they aren't even rooting for a rebuilding phase but instead rooting for the idea of a rebuilding phase. It's the strangest thing I've seen in some time.

I've never heard anyone else put it that way, but you hit the nail absolutely on the head. What kind of fan roots for rebuilding? It's just weird. I probably have thirty more years to live if I'm lucky. I can't afford for some Harvard douchebag to throw away ten percent of my seasons.

Don't know if JORR was referring to this, but Ricketts basically said the same thing this morning...something to the effect of "we could spend money and be .500 ...if we wanted to."

Regardless of The Plan, the fact is that they are charging top-level MLB prices for a minor league product. Wanna blow it up and tank 3-5 seasons for draft picks? Fine -- then lower your ticket prices accordingly. I see that only sold 93% of tickets were sold for opening day...

I think a lot of fans just accept something because Theo says it in a way they wouldn't if it were said by someone else. Patience may begin to run short soon. But just because a guy says "we're building the team the right way" doesn't mean it's true. Every GM in the history of sports and beyond feels that whatever he's doing is "the right way".

I think Cubs fans should be upset because their team sucks not happy because Theo says some day it might not.

I will admit that most if the die hard Cub fans I know are old meatballs (my dad and his friends) but they are just as disgusted this year as they are every other year.
