Early in the KU/WISC game Anthony said "It might surprise some what I am about to say, but Wisconsin is the quicker team."

1. He is wrong

2. Should it be a surprise because Wisc had 5 white players on the floor?

Wonder if Steve Kerr said....

"It might surprise some what I am about to say, but Kentucky is the smarter team"

Kerr would have had to explain himself, he would be suspended at the least, Jessie would want a meeting with CBS officials and odds would be Kerr would never be invited back to do a NCAA game.

If you want to scrutinize people for thoughts and equal application of punishments, then why isn't greg anthony asked about this?

Seems pretty cut n dried, leash. What Big Fan said is almost assuredly what would happen.

I don't know where to start. It's a ridiculous premise.

First, Anthony could have been referring to any number of things: youth, athleticism, All-Americans, etc. Kentucky clearly wins in all these categories, so it would usually be safe to assume that they are also quicker.

Second, comparing quickness to intelligence is ridiculous. If you don't understand the difference, then I would venture a guess that you are overly-sensitive to "reverse" racism. If Steve Kerr would have said "believe it or not, Kentucky is smarter"... that would warrant some explanation. Greg Anthony's comment does not. You're looking for things where they don't exist. And it doesn't matter to me who agrees with you.

Anthony said "Quicker" not sure why that even mean anything else other than what he said.

When he said it, there was silence after he said it.

Anthony even said it was hesitation and gave the preface of that is may be a "surprise"

So, I don't think it was said without knowing that 5 white guys being quicker was a statement that would not be expected. he said it after Sam Dekker came around Julius Randle for a steal.

Not looking for anything, he said it.

"It might surprise some what I am about to say, but Wisconsin is the quicker team."

Then explain to me why this is phrased as a SURPRISE?

I looked at the second half line, instead of the game line ONE TIME, and you somehow equate that to you looking for "reverse racism" a la Chaspoppcap?

I heard the comment about Wisky being quicker. Like you, I disagree with that statement. When you brought up Kerr, and the "what if" scenario, including "Jessie", you lost me.

Cmon leash you're being a little naive there. You know exactly what Anthony was referring to. Why else would he use a qualifier like its surprising ? Because Wisconsin is mostly white and its a surprise to most people they would be quicker than a team full of blacks. Thats exactly what he meant by that.

Chus do you think Anthony would have mentioned the word surprise in stating that Wisconsin was a quicker team if they were starting 5 blacks?

Even if that is what he meant, it's a ridiculous comparison to "intelligence."

I don't want to take a ride down history lane to explain the prejudices, scars and memories that accompany calling black people less intelligent. To compare it to a debate about quickness is ignorant at best.

Are you a 20 some year old white kid, whom I guess grew up in a white burb of Chicago?

I don't know. I was just trying to watch a basketball game, not get inside the analyst's head.

Bigfan was obviously looking for something, hence the mention of "Jessie".

What? You are a fucking idiot. You always go with these personal attacks like you are "in the know" and everyone else just grew up in some clueless area with no experience. It's frustrating to argue with you, and it's not just because I can't understand what you are saying half the time.

Can you read? Look up at my previous post. He could have said it because Kentucky was more athletic, younger, or had more talent. Even if he did mean it was because they were white, it's ridiculous to compare it to intelligence.

Here is an easy question for you: do you think calling white people "slow" is the same as calling black people "dumb"?

I think they're both terrible assumptions / sterotypes to make . Yet depending on who makes them, they certainly are treated differently.

It wasn't a personal attack. You mentioned the HISTORY and SCARS and MEMORIES, as if you had some experience of being part of it.

Not sure why it makes me an idiot?

Looks like you get in a number of arguments with people outside of this place too.

considering one was actually said on National TV and the other was a hypothetical scenario I posted here, I would think the impact might be a little different.

Yet, when someone choose to create new possible meanings as to what Anthony might have meant, then it changes the whole scenario.

You're thinking of Brogue. His life is one big confrontation.

BigFan - do I have to be black to realize what blacks went through and to use it as a frame of reference for issues regarding race?

Right. I'm saying that they should be treated differently. I don't think implying that white people aren't quick is the same as implying that black people aren't smart.
