I just see no point in pounding my fist and cursing them. Ill just wait and hope they get good.
Here is what gets me with your apathy: if they signed good players to three year deals in year one, no prospect would be blocked and they would be relieved of any of them that were bad...and you could get some pretty good players on three year deals.
The only thing that would have suffered is draft position, but that still would have allowed you to have Baez, Soler and a host of other good players.
So, you have accepted this losing in the hopes of good times ahead. However you could have had winning now AND good times in the future.
I dont know if people think its a joke or exaggeration when Cub fans say they were killed off in 03-04 but its pretty true in my case. I just dont have any bitching left. They suck now. They've sucked since 08. Im just waiting for them to get good. Maybe that makes me a bandwagon fan but I have no inclination to live and die with bad teams. Ive kind of gone Bernsteinesque with the Cubs. If I determine they arent winning the WS that year, Im not going to be fully invested
The likely result of your three year contract thing (assuming Ricketts could afford those deals) would be a few average teams no playoffs and slightly worse draft picks. The baseball would have been better, this is true. I guess in my case it just doesnt matter because of the previously stated Bernsteinism
