I am going to show an amazing leap of faith and say that Emery will take the logical best player available.

I hope he doesn't so I can unleash a tirade of hate-filled posts in the live draft thread.

No worries dolphin. Hub in his latest mock draft does not even have Donald going in the 1st round

I have seen some crazy ass mock drafts out there with Gilbert going in the 20s. The guy is a 6 foot corner with exceptional cover skills who blazed at under 4.4 at the Combine.

I don't trust most of these mocks. The good sites usually charge for their most updated mocks and cheap ass dolphin ain't paying for information he already knows. Give me the analysis and I think I can piece together things.

Two running backs in the 1st round!

Cyrus Kouandjio has knee issues and looked terrible in the national championship game. Angelo would've been salivating.

Mocks provide familiarity with names. For example, I wouldn't have watched any Buffalo games if Mack wasn't a mocked preseason 1st rounder. Smooth PB is useless.

Dennard and Bridgewater at the end of the first seems wildly incorrect. I would think if Bridgewater is there at #14 there will be teams on the phone with the Bears.

Any chance that the Bears would take a QB with the first pick? Any chance they take a QB in the draft?

No chance. I don't even think they are going to draft one. For some reason, I guess they don't think that drafting and developing one is of importance right now. Which I can't understand since the Franchise is basically on a 3 year deal.

I honestly do not think they will. There is too much defense to fix. If any off is drafted maybe one lineman and one late RB. It makes more sense to take the shot as they are doing and if it fails start the prep for after Jay next draft. Given his contract.

I hope they draft a WR first.

I believe that since he restructured it now becomes a 4 year deal. Since rookie contracts are for 4 years outside of the 1st round, I no longer think they should be drafting someone this year.

I don't see any place for a rookie lineman on the roster with the Britton and de la Puente signings this week. Swing tackle and interior backup are covered. If you keep 8 OL you still have young guys like Brown or Boggs and Scott.

If Bridgewater falls, as some mocks have shown, he is the perfect QB for Trestman.

@nfldraftscout: Things that would not surprise me on May 8: Derek Carr is 2nd QB drafted. RaShede Hageman goes top 15. Darqueze Dennard goes Rd2.

What did I say a couple of weeks ago about the silence on Hageman? Someone is lying in the weeds on that.

Maybe Hub is correct and I am wrong on Bridgewater/Dennard. I would be rushing to the podium to get him in the 2nd.

It may very well be likely that Fuller is ahead of Dennard in some people's minds. Emery had him in for a visit and there is no way he is there in the second. Put him into my acceptable choices if Donald is gone.

Would not be surprised in 3 years if Carr is by far the best QB from the draft and people wonder why Manzel was even drafted. That running around thing doesnt work in todays NFL when everyone on the defense is as fast as you are.

Watching Manzel make some amazing plays at AM, I always wonder if jumping over the downed lineman is going to fly in the NFL when one guy sticks you.

Even Cam has chosen to pick his spots when he gets a wide open lane to run, he avoids collisions.

In a few years we will see.

It's amazing that he was considered a mid round pick at best halfway through the season and now he could be the #1 pick.

I'm telling you, it's Emery. I've been calling this since January.

He's been pulling guys behind parking lot columns all over Minnesota.

McShay's most recent mock has Anthony Barr going in the 2nd. Right, he's guessing and looking for clicks. But it's not an isolated thing as Barr has really fallen off the radar. Dolphin, my question is why?

I'm certainly no expert on this stuff, but I think it would be stunning for Barr to fall to the 2nd. I'm pretty much certain that wont happen.

He pretty much put up good dolphin level numbers on the bench press so teams may see him as unable to handle anything but a speed rush. We have seen how well that worked with Shea.

If combine numbers significantly alter your draft board, you're terrible at player evaluation to begin with.

Well, they do indicate that he is not particularly strong nor put in the work to get better in a pretty basic area. It might also show he is not strong enough to play DE in a 4-3 which cuts the number of teams who would draft him high.

He still has blazing speed and high productivity. He would be a steal in the 2nd.

McShay is out of his mind if he thinks Barr gets past a team like the Pats in the 1st round. I don't care how much a hit his stock has taken do to workouts, it won't take enough of a hit to make him a high risk late in the 1st round unless he goes all Aaron Hernandez before the draft.

I agree, a 3-4 team could find a place for him.

I am fine with Hageman, but secondary is more of a concern at this point.

Safety should be first round pick, then 2nd round, 1 fat guy works for me.

They will be taking a late round QB. Zach Mettenberger, LSU . Right now 9th ranked QB. One of the more impressive QB's I watched in college when in pertains to the NFL game. Big, stands up straight, great vision on crossing routes, can throw down field. All that said, then 2 weeks later I heard Hub say the same thing. :?
