I think he misspoke because I have heard him say this before. He has never seen so many players who can get around the bases so fast. That '93 club might have had a little more team speed (for chrissakes!) and while this probably isn't the fastest since 1984, its definitely the fastest team in recent memory that the Sox have had.

Yeah, he did misspeak. I like Hawk, but he needs some new material. At least a couple times in every single game he says "I'll tell ya, I have never, and I mean ever, seen this much speed in White Sox uniforms since I've been here. I love it."

I know but he's excited. He's old. What else does have besides golf? We're lucky he's not (yet) as bad as Harry Caray was his last couple of years in the booth.

Craig Breslow and AJ Pierzynski might have the highest IQ of any battery, in Major League history.

Best back-to-back hitters he ever saw? Not George Scott and Yaz, but Big Papi and Manny.

Per Silvy's Facebook, Hawk on Carmen and Jurko just a little bit ago.

"I'll tell ya what, Carm, our guys have as much talent as the '27 Yankees. Best Collection of athletes I've ever seen."

I am so sick of Harrelson. He only played in the AL! So all this "best I ever saw" garbage completely leaves out the National League during the 60's. I can go ahead and guess there had to be a few good players in the NL during that stretch.

He has already admitted spending time in the training room getting a rubdown or rubout from Yaz, we all know he wasn't checking to see how the other half of MLB was doing every night.

In all his 55 years of baseball, the batter to hit the ball with the most carry is probably Jose Abreu.

2nd place is Elston Howard.

Giancarlo Stanton still has that record, at least for this season.

During tonight's Sox Tribe broadcast in the bottom seventh inning after a Jason Kiopnis sac bunt Hawk starts talking about how he was watching back to back Cardinals games on his iPad and saw Jim Edmunds and Albert Puljos both lay down bunts and that showed how Tony LaRussa's guys knew how to play the game.....

Edmunds last year as a Cardinal was in 2007.

On April 3, 2010, the Wi-Fi iPad was released in the United States, followed by the release of the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant on April 30.

So Hawk Harrelson...who are you crappin?

There was something about Oriental pitchers and their funky deliveries... Bernstein was on about it?

Harrelson: Well, most of your Asian — Oriental — pitchers have something funky in their windups.
Stone: Usually, it’s a hesitation. And with Tazawa ...
Harrelson: It’s someplace in there.
Stone: … He’s no exception to that. And so, just as you try to time him to get your rhythm, that little hesitation makes him more deceptive.
Harrelson: I think it’s terrific.

During Saturdays game in the top of the 3rd ....

Hawks quote "Rico Petrocelli held the record for most home runs by a shortstop for years...."

Rico hit 40 in 1969 which was the AL record until he was passed by AROD in 2000 when he ht 41

Ernie Banks hit 44 in 1955, 43 in 1957, 47 in 1958, 45 in 1959 and 41 in 1960 and Ernie WAS a SS. Ernie held the SS record for all of baseball until 2001 when AROID hit 51...Ernie still has the NL record at 47

Keep twisting those carmine facts facts HAWK ...who you crappin

I happened to hear that one and it was presented as most homers ever by a SS

No big deal but I did find it curious

Well, that gets into another Hawk quirk, and he does this quite often. He'll say, "National League guy, never saw him."

Being a fan of one league was quite common in the days when the leagues were more obviously separate entities than they are currently. And of course, Hawk spent his entire career in the AL. But once you become a profissional broadcater in behooves you to have a grasp of the material you're going to be expected to discuss. That means knowing how many homers Ernie hit in a season. And knowing who the fuck Zoilo Versalles was.

The other day Hawk talked about playing hoops with the Celtics. This guy talks like he was a member of the Kennedy family. He spent one fucking season in Boston.

I'm honestly surprised he doesn't bring up batting gloves more often.
