I like Cleto changing it up and going with the not-shitting-the-bed approach. Nice work.

holy crap man, wtf were the white sox thinking going into a season with this rotation?

with today's 4ER in 5.2IP (alongside 9H/1BB for a 10/5.66666 aka 1.77 WHIP) erik johnson has LOWERED his ERA/WHIP to 9.58/2.33. felipe paulino is your #2 starter IIRC and i don't even need to look up his stats to tell you that he's bad. i know that jose quintana is capable of stretches of very solid pitching, but it's not like you're thinking he can grab lightning in a bottle and go all esteban loaiza on you for a season.

so yeah, with the rotation being sale and then eventually a maybe/hopefully OK start by quintana surrounded by utter shit that has to put in work to get the ERA/WHIP down to 9.00/2.00...... good god man, this could be a really really REALLLLLYYYYYYY long season for the white sox. we already know they've got the market cornered on old/ish fat and bad relievers, and well, yeah, when the starters/relievers can even get the ball to the closer SURPRISE it's matt lindstrom, and hearkening back to that blown save last week good god man when he can't locate his breaking ball he has absolutely nothing for you out there.

so yeah, the + side to this is that there are going to be a lot of 8-2 defecits which means that avisail garcia and jose abreu are going to get plenty of chances to see some strikes when the bases are empty. they'll be able to work on their personal/offensive #s without having to worry about carrying a team or anything.... and uhhhh this is the last year of adam dunn, right? and konerko? go figure that alex rios turned out to be pretty much worth his albatross contract after a couple'a years so go figure he's gone... and uhhhh in theory i think they pay dayan viciedo something very friendly like 3mil to go up there and act like he's a guy that could someday develop into a .275/30/100 machine.

and then..... yeah. there's marcus semien, and gordon beckham, and all of the gang! at least robin ventura won't have to be under the microscope all that much because you're not going to be questioning his basepath theory nor his ability to utilize a pitching staff when you're down 8-2 in the 5th inning 5/7 days of the week. and nobody really had any expectations for this year, so hey, you might as well make the 2014 white sox' official marketing slogan " *shrug* " and get on with it.

I caught zero logic in all that. And that last bit? Pure gibberish.

huh? what did i need logic for? i was just saying that the white sox' starting rotation is utter crap which i'm pretty sure the board doesn't need some statistical analysis to tell you, although said statistical analysis would only prove my point.

i was just painting a rather bleak picture of the future of 2014 chicago white sox baseball. there doesn't seem to be any hope that anyone's gonna step up out of nowhere and provide some !!! like esteban loaiza did so many years ago. they've got two young/ish players in avisail garcia and jose abreu that you hope can develop/blossom into solid ~.280/30/100 guys, and then you've got..... uhhhh..... chris sale. yeap you've got chris sale.

so perhaps i could have been more eloquent in the process of sharting out some evidently-inane thoughts about the bleak vibe around this white sox team and that would've tickled your fancy. or perhaps i could have stopped and thought "wow, i don't know anything about anything and people on the board don't wanna hear any of my blathering" and saved you a lot of torturous pain for having to spend 30 seconds reading THREE. WHOLE. PARAGRAPHS. of drivel. or better yet.... maybe i could just slit my wrists and save the whole world a lot of time because obviously nobody comes to the CSFMB to read other people's thoughts on chicago sports teams, especially mine.

regardless, i apologize to you FarveFan; i have to get over this boundless audacity to come to a sports talk messageboard and share my thoughts about sports.

last i checked the sox game was 4-4 around the 6th/7th. i sodded off to finish my commute and start up dinner for us and now as i check back the game is 8-4 rockies in the bottom of the 8th. ronald belisario is out there and looking like he's either hurt or just acutely aware that he is ronald belisario. this-a no good.

but hey, if jose abreu and/or avisail garcia have an at bat in the top of the 9th at least they can swing for the fences, eh? in the end that's really what the 2014 white sox are about..... determining what kind of assets you've got and hoping/praying that another 1 or 2 guys who want to play baseball for a living in the wonderful city of chicago step up and become assets number 3 and 4. otherwise..... yeargh.

Not sure why you keep ignoring Adam Eaton an solely focusing on Garcia and Abreu.

oh i totally forgot about adam eaton so you're right on that one. so let's hope that he can be asset #4, cuz that means you have 3 other assets (sale, abreu, garcia) and you can go forward from there.... together.

yep, that's your 2014 white sox official slogan: (*.*) TOGETHER.

i still think *shrug* is the most honest and thus real slogan for your 2014 white sox. they sure are scheduled to play 162 games, are they not?

I would much rather see SHARK back here giving play by play updates 4 minutes late than wwn and sini spewing their useless drivel.

The Sox bullpen is fucking terrible right now. I liked what I saw (heard) from Johnson yesterday. He'll learn quickly how to pitch in the big leagues he can do a few more times what he did yesterday.
