Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin stepped down from his job at Tennessee to take the job at California. If you remember earlier this year, the hillbillies there had a petition floating around to fire Martin and bring back Bruce Pearl. Well, Pearl is not an option anymore and signing day is coming....jobs have come and went and who knows who is available.
For Martin, this is an excellent move. He leaves a place that didn't want him - a team that lost their two best players to the draft and is in the tough SEC for a program to one that seems to be in a good place, winning 20 games 5 of the 6 years under Mike Montgomery (and the one not there was 18)
http://msn.foxsports.com/tennessee/stor ... 3Aansfox11Yeah, he wanted the Marquette job, but when he found out he wasn't going to get it he claimed he backed out of the job and wanted to stay at Tennessee. Which was a smart move on his part, for some reason Tennessee had no problems letting him walk. I hope he does well at California.
