Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Game's daytime lineup a veritable all-star team of Atlanta media members and sports alumni? Randy Cross, Jamie Dukes, Kordell Stewart, some host from NBA TV? You lose 25% of your already small audience in a month, you have to do something, but can't necessarily do anything -- maybe you just don't have the say-so from up above to fire Kordell Stewart. So you go after the weakest target available, say you made a change, and then best of all cut costs by have rotating part-timers do a full-timer's show. "Go after the weakest target" shouldn't be a concept altogether unfamiliar to Jason, who employed it when he blamed poor White Sox attendance on families who are struggling in a recession.

Not only did Jason make it easy for them, you gotta figure those day part guys have contracts and make a lot more money than Jason, thus the station would have to eat more money if they fired them. So maybe they just want their contracts to bleed out.

Maybe Jason was like the guys at Chicago's "The Game" where he didn't have a contract and they just have to pay him 6 weeks salary or something like that.

Wrong again. But you're getting quite upset about it the whole affair.

Did Beardown rub your the wrong way? Hit too close to home?

Any criticism of Beardown is followed almost instantaneously by a post from you, it's just a fact. Nothing wrong with it, like I said, people on the board have their schticks, that's yours.

Hopefully Jason learned a valuable lesson from all of this. Being a jagoff & continually ridiculing & making fun of people just isn't a popular way to go in any line of work. Berns wouldn't survive anywhere else either.

Yes he would because his is genuine and he's good at it (even though he annoys the piss out of me). The Bernstein followers struggle with it because it's not truly who they are. Goff is a nice person. He should be that person on radio. If you're not yourself, it just doesn't come off well.

I disagree strongly with your first sentence. Berns is a disingenuous phony. I agree with the rest of your post. Jason is a good guy & he needs to be himself. Hopefully he has learned that.

He would completely fail as a transplant. In Chicaco he has the benefit of seceral years of good radio to pad him and cloud peoples judgements.

Agreed, nor, on the other hand, is he the iconoclast he so desperately seeks to be.

Goff isn't that bad. BnB was actually a decent listen when he was there.

If it's true that Jason really went down there and did the Bernstein "I'm going to teach you how to properly Like Sports" shtick, then I'll believe every word people speculate about program directors telling him to compromise his vision. After all, Southerners just LOVE IT when some transplanted Yankee condescends to them.

This is the truth. There is too much negativity towards the guy. I think its a gross mischaracterization to say he was a full Bernstien clone. He had his moments but he also openly challenged some of that nonsense.

I thought it was the game show on the Mexican channel, with the babes in bikinis.
