Wow - Bernstein came up with "Back In Black"

Even a jag like him can have a correct answer sometimes.

Agree to disagree I guess. I have no use for them.

  @ Terry a few minutes ago.

Dan: What's your song, Terry?
Terry: Eh... There's so many... I would play "American Pie"
***silence***
Bernsie: That's wrong!

Elton John: Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting.

Sir Elton had some great rockers before he turned really really soft.

Or...

Yes yes yes and more yes to all of that and more. Probably after about 1990 not so much.

Possibly one of the worst of all time.

"Possibly one of" is being pretty generous.

Says the genius who thinks AC/DC is a turn-off when it come to rock.

They're incredibly boring. Really uninspiring stuff. Same with KISS.

Fun fact: Back in Black is the second best-selling album of all-time, behind Thriller.

I change my mind completely and go with Darko. Play the Martians Time by Pink Floyd. 8)

I feel good being on the side of T-Bone and Darkside in any music debate.

Man, KISS, just terrible.

Even their "good" songs are god-awful. The disco-era KISS? BAD. Their attempt at a concept album? WHAT? BAD.

Then to restart their careers they..................take off their make-up! And we find out they are FUCKING UGLY.

The songs sucked. They couldn't play....

Just fucking bad. It makes me angry.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me that on a message board for a sports talk show that there are this many clueless people when it comes to music. It's sad, but it's not a surprise. This whole conversation started because Grimace said on the air that his ambassador of rock would be The Band for fuck sakes. Who do you lame-ass stiffs listen to, Air Supply?! Does Thunderstruck give you nightmares about shitty baseball teams? (which baseball in itself sucks in the first place). AC/DC is one of the more universally praised rock bands there is, for good reason. You people turning your nose up at them have zero credibility discussing rock music. Zero. When I want to know about power plays and penalty kills ans ERAs and boring shit about those shitty sports, I'll ask one of you knobs. When you want to know about rock music, GOOD rock music, ask me.

You have a couple of points there, but then you undermine those. To say they can't play is ludicrous. And, yeah, they aren't the best looking dudes in the world, but that's not my first concern in a rock band. In fact, it isn't a concern at all. Here's a pin-up for you if that's what you want in a rock musician:

Kiss has some songs. "Deuce", "Strutter", "Do Ya Love Me?" are all good rock songs. Not to mention "Rock and Roll All Night" which is a goddamn anthem. The thing that most mediocre bands lack is the singer. And that's the real problem with Kiss, none of them can really sing. Without the makeup and over-the-top show, they'd be just another bar band. But hey, they took some Alice Cooper and New York Dolls and mixed it up and rode it to riches. And now Gene Simmons can go on with Henry Rollins and pontificate about how the meaning of life is the accumulation of wealth. Good for him.

As for AC/DC, there's no doubt that at their best they are a great rock band. If all they ever did was "Highway to Hell" they would still be great. But they have too many songs, especially from the Bon Scott era, that seem as if they were written by sixth grade boys in between inventing such sexual "positions" as the donkey punch and the strawberry shortcake for Urban Dictionary. There is nothing redeeming about crap like "Big Balls". It's not even funny.

Big Balls does suck, no doubt. I would never say that any band's material is perfect. At least you know the real deal, JORR.

I'd put Van Halen on a mix to give to the aliens.

But not KISS, they are bad, the aliens would listen to LICK IT UP and then nuke our planet from orbit because it'd be the only way to be sure.

I'd just play the aliens "All Right Now" and be done with it.

Of course.

Strictly Rock n' Roll will always be Van Halen, never Van Hagar.

Yes on ACDC

No on KISS

Give the Aliens Eminence Front by The Who. It'll make us seem cool.
