That's a different animal. He's one of the guys that had no business being on an NHL team that I was talking about earlier. The Hawks loved those guys back then.

Sad thing is that there was a time when Karpotsev was pretty Damn good. He just lost his give a shit by the time he got here. I would still disagree on daze. He was just ouchy.

Here Ill keep it simple. If you think Eric Daze was a bad player, you're wrong.

So...by your own standards, he was the 2nd best player on his regular line - and they were a terrible team....and I'm the one that is wrong?

Yep, you're wrong. Its ok, it happens a lot.

Way to ignore the flaw in your own logic.

How did the Hawks not win with all that great talent back then?

Being too "ouchy" to stand in front of the net at 6'6" 250 is kinda one of the reasons why he wasn't very good. That still counts against him in the sports world. And then there were the times he couldn't get on the ice at all for months at a time.

Where did I say he was a great player? theres a lot of gray between he's bad and great. He was a good second line winger. Thats all , nothing more nothing less. To say he was bad is wrong.

Then we're arguing about nothing. I agree - he was a decent second line winger for a god-awful team.

Didn't they go to the conference finals with him?

I can't do this all night.

With him or because he was "the man" on that team, which was reacting to earlier in this thread?

I didn't say he was the man. I don't know what we're yelling about.

Yeah but it was a really interesting goal.
OK. I admit there's plenty of dnq's when daze was on the team but he wasn't a bum or anything and had some decent seasons. It's like Maddux on the cubs (the first time around) or something like that. Can't say he wasn't good cause everyone else sucks balls.
Anyway cool.

People keep mentioning that Daze had a bad back, but I'm not sure people realize just how bad it was. Me and him have the same neurosurgeon. After my 7th back surgery a couple years ago my doctor told me that I had finally passed up Daze for the patient with the most back surgeries. The guy had 6 back surgeries and was a pro hockey player. I'm insane for playing men's league hockey with 7 back surgeries, couldn't imagine how insane you have to be to play in the NHL with that condition.

For context, Steve Sullivan had 2 back surgeries and his second surgery kept him out of the game for 2 years I believe. I've personally never heard of a pro athlete in any sport who's come back from 3 back surgeries, let alone 2.

I've seen him a couple times at the York tavern. Big dude.
It's a little bar at the Hinsdale / Oak Brook border.
Coach Q's second home.

I wish. I went to parties there and played softball at the OBPD.

True.

And a good place to quaff some cold ones back in the day without having to worry about being carded.
