I think they should draft a pitcher. After Rodon any of the next four would be fine.

Jeff Hoffman dominated in his start tonight. He sat 95-97 and had his hammer curveball workin. 8 IP 3 H 0 ER 1 BB 16 K's

Theo and Jed were both in attendance so maybe they're rethinking that not drafting pitchers in the first round policy.

Crazy to me that a high school kid can hit 100mph.

Have to think the risk of arm injury down the road for such kids is pretty high.

Keith Law sees the first few picks this way... he was interviewed on The Baseball Tonight Podcast with Buster Onley on Thursday and I just listened to it today.

1-1 Astros Brady Aiken lhp Cathedral Catholic HS, San Diego.
1-2 Marlins Tyler Kolek rhp Shepherd (Texas) HS
1-3 White Sox Jeff Hoffman rhp East Carolina
1-4 Cubs Carlos Rodon lhp N.C. State
1-5 Twins Erick Fedde rhp UNLV or Bradley Zimmer of San Francisco

His thoughts were that Rodon has not been as dominate this year and he could fall if he does not go 1-1. He sees the Sox taking Hoffman since the Sox have avoided Boras guys and the Sox like great athletes with raw talent. He sees Hoffman as a #1 or a #2 starter.

I do not see how the Sox could pass on Rondon at 3 if he falls.
I do not see the Cubs taking either high school kid as they would not fit "The Plan"I do think they will take a college pitcher this year.

BTW Keyser I do read what you write here and think you are on top of things and I do appreciate your recaps.I would like to hear your thoughts on who the Sox and Cubs WILL take and who you think they SHOULD take.

Still really hoping either Aiken or Rodon fall to #4, but I have a bad feeling they are both going in the top 3.

He'll still probably go in the first round. It will be much easier for teams with multiple top picks like Toronto, Miami, Kansas City, Cleveland or St Louis.
