The good: 86 on Friday at Praire Bluff lipped 3 par putts. Mid summer would of been a 90 something found 4 balls that
would have been engulfed in tall fescue  Best round in quite awhile but with new clubs, grips and driver better start scoring.

The bad : 99 and Heritage Bluff on Saturday  Windy as hell and crazy cross winds all day. Only took 2 penalty strokes
so makes it hurt that much more. Struck the ball decent but new R1 wasn't performing like on Friday

As long as you dodged Barney Fife it was a good day.

Anybody want to play some golf?

 I was tempted to do that today but I am sure I will be taking quite a few half days this summer.

I was gonna just stick out the week, but its been brutal and other than leaving a couple hours early for a Sox game, I haven't taken a day off since the Super Bowl so I'm due. I work in Melrose Park so I can make it almost anywhere.

Taking half a day today, playing at 1:15 at Arboretum with some buddies.

Had my golf league last night, shot a 43. Not bad considering I started with a double, had 2 3putt bogeys on bad greens and also had 2 perfect shots where I came up short cause I picked the wrong club. Straighten out some of those mistakes and I'm sub 40 for the round. Not that it matters, first two weeks are to set handicap so its better to play bad anyway, but I have a hard time grasping that concept. I thought the point of a handicap was to get it as low as possible.

53-51 - 104 at Arboretum. :(

I suck.

Worst round I've had since I shot a 115 2 months after back surgery a couple years ago.

Water on 14 holes and I lost 7 balls. Only hit 5 fairways all day.

My game has really gone to shit. last 5 rounds have been 104, 98, 94, 85, 99.

Teeing off tomorrow at 6:30. I have no plans for Sunday so it is likely I will go out and play that
day as well if the weather works out.

51-46-97 at Balmoral Woods today.

Nine 3putts including 6 3putt bogeys.

11 miss hit fat shots.

All in all, a slight improvement over Thursday. Still playing god awful. Putting is killing me more than anything, although all those miss hits didn't exactly help. Not a single 1 putt today.

No pen today, went with a combo of liquid and flower.

Interesting golf weekend. Shot 36-40 yesterday after birdieing the first two holes. Hit it pretty well. This
morning I was first off on the shorter course in the rotation. ONly 6000 yards but very hilly and interesting
layout. Doubled the 2nd hole and then reeled off 5 birdies in a row. Never done anything like that before.
Drained 3 putts over 25 feet and chipped one in. Made some silly bogeys on the back but also a couple
more birdies. I bogeyed 3 of the last 4 to shoot 32-36 68. It is a par 70. Ties my all time low. I wasn't
even hitting the ball all that great most of the day but my putter could not be stopped. 8 birdies during
the round. I couldn't stop shaking my head and laughing. One of those days I guess.

87 at a mushy Woodbine on Friday. I didn't intend to do 18 (especially with the rain) but found that on golfnow for $14. Couldn't pass it up. Chipped well and drove well. Irons were so so. I putted real well, only one 3putt. It was by far the best I had putted on that course. Only 2 double bogeys, on 9 and 18, 5 pars, and everything else was single bogey. So I felt pretty good about that.

Then put up a 94 at Gleneagles (red) on Saturday. Slicing my driver all but 2 or 3 times, topped a couple of hybrid shots, and while I was on the money distance wise with irons I did not have the direction. The greens were in awful shape. They must have had some disease from the winter because there was green fertilizer all over 15 or 16 of them. Still though that was not the issue. Two 3 putts, but 5 double bogeys, not real good.

I am, however, really doing very well with the 60 degree wedge I got over the winter. I'm getting better and better with using it almost exclusively from about 60 yards in, and chipping with it is also getting better and better. I was able to scramble a couple of times this weekend, and its much easier to save your par or bogey when you have a 10' putt rather than a 25' putt.

Shot a 97 at RedTail and a 95 at Arlington Lakes over the weekend. Not good. I ended the Arlington Lakes round with a -1 over the last three holes, so it could have been a lot worse. I can't figure out what the hell I'm doing with my driver, so it's relegated to the bag. I'm a 3-wood (which I usually shank right) or 2I hybrid off the tee. I'm money within 160 or so, but getting to that range has been quite the struggle.

Nice work. I also shot a 68 this weekend; however, I did it on a par 72 course.

Now, it should be noted that I only managed to finish 15 holes before lighting forced me off the course. Played Maple Meadows and went out around 3:00. No one was on the course and I was done with 15 holes after 2 hours. Drained a few putts for birdie and the driver was spotty, but my irons, woods and hybrid were pretty solid for the first round of the year. Went back to playing a urethane ball this year and the Z-Star SL seems to fit me very well. Lower compression and higher-launching than the standard Z-Star.

44-44-88 at Arrowhead yesterday. Big relief after the way I've been playing lately.

Greens were slower than Balmoral which made things easier. Changed up my putting stance as well...only 1 3putt all day and that came on 18.

Driver started coming around too.

Course is nice, but no way is it worth the $70-$80 they charge. I paid $48 on Golfnow which felt like a solid deal. I think its worth $55.

I paid $31 for Arlington Lakes, and after a few holes, I felt that was $30 too much. Not only were the on-course water jugs empty (though some didn't have jugs in there to begin with), the beverage cart girl was "off today." Really? No one can fill in for that job? I'll be bringing my own water, Daisy Cutter and SideKick next time. Course was a wreck, which can be expected, but the water thing is ridiculous. Humid as hell, and not a drop of water available in the jugs.

45 in my golf league last night. Started out slow with 3 doubles and a bogey, but played the next 4 holes at 1 over. doubled the ridiculously long par4 9th after going driver - 3 wood and still being short.

Won closest to the pin on a par 3 with a 8 iron I put to 8 feet.

My partner was out of town so I played solo with a blind draw for my partner. Ended up in 9th place for the day. Shot better in the pre lims so my handicap was low (6) which didn't help me. The guys I was playing with finished first. One of them was a 25 handicap and was getting 2-3 strokes on every hole. Hard to overcome that, he would shoot a 7 on a par 5 and get a birdie.

I did the Augusta road trip about 7 years ago for a practice round. It was rained out and we never even saw the course. Not even a goddamn pimento and cheese sandwich.
