Why don't you say what you think?

Has Abreu been better than Rizzo?

I truly believe its too close to call

Its real hard to put the defense of a first baseman into context

I'll say this, advanced stats guys (and Joey Votto) would say Rizzo, old school guys would say Abreu. I think as per usual the answer lies in the middle

One of these guys will have a long slump and the other will pull away and that will decide who is better for the year

I think Rizzo is more likely to have the slump. Hope I'm wrong
So that is a no.

Yes, being a Cubs fan I'm irrationally exuberant. I've already reserved a hotel room in Cooperstown for his HoF induction ceremony.

I know your reading comprehension is better than that

I'll sum up for Obtuse Rick

Equal now, guessing Abreu ends up better (much of this is based on previous Rizzo years)

I hate to do this, but that does not fit the definition of obtuse. I asked you a question, and your answer meant that you were responding "no".

So, you think it's fair that I say that Rizzo is "pretty good"?

So, we've got a vote that Abreu ends up better. Way to go Steve Stone! rpb thinks you will be proven correct!

He had 10 HRs thru April 30th, which is what his player of the month award was based on.

He hit 2 in Cleveland this weekend, so he has 7 road HRs.

It absolutely fits. My answer was not "No". It was that they are equal thus far.Could not have been more clear and anyone over the age if ten could see that.

But that's not the answer you wanted so you flipped to Obtuse Rick and acted like I answered no.

You're doing it as again in this post.

" Too close to call" is pretty clear. It means.....too close to call

So, that is a "no" to this question: Has Abreu been better than Rizzo?

No, its not.

Too close to call was the answer to your question

Equal now was in relation to trying to predict the numbers going forward

Here I'll make it real simple for you so we can discuss this like adults without The Boilermaker Rick trolling handbook being used

The two players are very close. One of them is probably a little better, but I can't say which one

In Boilermaker Ricks trolling language

Do I think Rizzo has been better? Unsure

Do I think Abreu has been better? Unsure

So we just wasted like 8 posts because Rick wanted to play word/phrasing games and treat csfmb like a court of law because he isn't interested in an actual conversation about baseball

Good to have you back, Rick!

With full acknowledgement that this conversation has gotten absurd, I still must defend the "obtuse" comment.

You are once again wrong. Here is your full quote.

Quote:

So no, equal now meant they are equal now.

Save that "trolling" stuff for the next time good dolphin wins another thread.

At least 75% of your posts on baseball are trolling. Don't try to bring other posters into it, this us about you and your aversion to serious baseball discussion.

Now get mad and say you're done because I've correctly pointed out that you troll more than anything else in regards to baseball

I was correct in calling you obtuse Rick. You worded it in a way that it was presented as if I said abreu is better. You did this because you were no longer interested in the baseball discussion. You wanted to get me to word it wring, which I did, my mistake.

Nice work.

A person who was interested in baseball discussion would have read my post and replied with a rebuttal not the very childish "Ahhh! You said it! You don't think he's better!!"

But that's just who you are. Not sure why it bothers you when I point this out.

One if us has spent the thread talking numbers, projections, and unbiased commentary. The other is saying "So you think Rizzo was robbed? "OMG, you think Rizzo I us the MVP!" Its fairly obvious, Rick

Oh and I'd check dolphins posts on Rizzo in this thread before using him as your champion

The question was not a trick. It was very clear. You were posting stats in which Rizzo had a higher number. I wanted you to extend that to see what your point was. That is it.

If you think that 75% of my baseball posts are just trolling then I recommend you stop responding.

Rizzo is a pretty good player. Stone could have chosen a lot of bad players on the Cubs. Instead, he chose one of the two good players they have and made a bold prediction and now he is rolling in that glory.

No, you see, bigfan seemed to be questioning my statement that Rizzo was "pretty good". To me, the level up from "pretty good" is "great". That isn't trolling at all.

I'll ask you. Do you think Rizzo is great?

Just noticed this now.

I don't get all riled up. I live for baseball talk. This stuff would be boring if it was all black and white.

The fact that intelligent baseball fans could disagree on things so severely is one of the things that makes the sport so great. There are so many factors at play.

I do think the advanced metrics have a place in the game. I also think its a very sad state of affairs when acase is agresssively made that a guy with 6hr and 16rbi is having a better season than a guy with 12hr and 35rbi. Its really quite pathetic

That's the cult of failing to make an out. Authoritatively stating OPS is a "better" stat than RBI assumes that taking a walk with one out and a man on third is better than hitting a deep fly to right.
