 Where did you see those opinions? Elmhurst Steve? That INQUISITOR guy?

First off, Inquisitor is a smart baseball guy.

Secondly, no I heard it on ESPN or the radio or something right after the injury.

First I've heard of this. Sources please.

Two extended absences
One DL stint and he missed 3 games in a row. Missing a few games has probably even happened to the almighty Rizzo at some point.

You base your expectations on being better than the Cubs? That's a high bar.
Did I say that was the expectation or where the bar was set? No. I was merely pointing out how the Sox pulled in a guy off the street-- who was 2-10 over his last 14 MLB starts-- and he completely shut down the Cubs in their home ballpark.

Its funny to see Cubs fans grasping at straws trying to cut the mild success the Sox have had so far this year after the beat the Cubs a couple of games. The Cubs have been losing 90+ games for 3 (this will make 4) straight years, and its only after a few losses to the Sox that the Cubs fans get their dander up. Maybe now you finally realize how far behind Theo's plan is and that there is little to no hope of contending until 2016 at the earliest. Have fun with all of that.

Can't argue with Frank. Theo's plan may bare fruit in 2 or 3 more years,if anyone still will be watching.

You are crazy if you think this weeks games affect this discussion.

And the 2016 line is hilarious, as if the White Sox will be doing anything this or next year.

It seems one of us is realistic about our team and the other guy is you.

I dont see how that makes Rich Hahn's moves any better.

Might as well cut Garcia then. RPB heard it "on the radio or something" that his career is over.

Adam Eaton was out of the starting lineup for 3 games after he left early, so he missed 4. Bang, you got me.

Yes.
Quote it then. Yes I expected the Sox (the better team) to beat the Cubs. The bar is not set at being better than the Cubs.

They are the only team in Chicago that has even a chance to do something this year. The Cubs will be a doormat, again, of the NL this year and without some giant strides forward by some of the prized prospects Theo has acquired, or without some major spending in free agency, the Cubs will likely not contend next either. Do you agree or disagree?

I heard Peter Gammons say on Mully and Hanley that Rick Hahn had the best offseason in baseball this past winter.

Your jealousy of Rick Hahn and the Sox is really starting to show. Its quite amusing.

I cant speak on next year. In fact one of your first replies to me on this board was criticizing me for doing just that.

Im not happy with where the Cubs are at. I dont believe that changes anything about the White Sox. I look at them separately. That's where you and I differ.

Ok. I thought it was pretty good, but these injuries and Davidson's struggles change that a little bit.

 Gammons

I love Abreu, I think he's destined for greatness ...the Sox ain't making the post season this year or next year...Detroit runs the Central n K.C. is starting to put it together .

@ big chicagoan - better product ? Yeah ...but same results , both will be sitting home come October .

I don't think the injuries change it. That cant be predicted. Eaton looks like a great leadoff hitter for the Sox so far so I'd say that still counts in Hahn's favor.

The Sale and Quintana contracts were a great move also.

Bravo, Rick Hahn.

I am disappointed in Davidson but both Garcia trades, the Eaton trade, the Abreu signing, the Nieto Rule 5 acquisition, patience with Flowers and Viciedo and the signing of Todd Steverson all look like smart moves today and into the long term. Even with Davidson, you did a fantastic job with the steal of Gillaspie the year before.

You should have signed at least one extra veteran SP but we all make our mistakes.

by the way, take a look today at what he gave away in his three biggest trades versus what he got in return

Chicagoans like to throw that word "steal" around about what baseball GMs have traded for in the past year yet there really is only one guy who looks like he should be contacted by the police for his thievery.

and in conclusion, you are clearly insane if you don't review how the Sox did against a tough April schedule and not conclude that they are contenders for a wild card spot this year

They're gonna win the division. I'm not worried about Detroit.

Even I don't expect that. They need Sale and Eaton back, and they need a better starting rotation.

Detroit is really good at winning in the regular season. The Sox just need to take advantage of another Tigers playoff collapse.

Detroit has two legit #1 pitchers that take the ball every 5th game.

The Sox have at least two legit #5 pitchers that take the ball every 5th game. The Sox also lead the AL in errors so far again this year.

So John Paxson had a bad draft because Rose has been hurt?

I seem to remember some GM getting criticized like crazy for the health of two high draft picks (Prior and Wood)

Really? As I remember it much of that was directed at Baker who seemed to me misusing and over using those two guys.

As much if not more directed at Hendry. Despite what you remember.

I heard on ESPN Radio or something it was Baker's fault.

The Sox May schedule consists of four with the Cubs. Don't get too excited about three wins against a team that can't score.

The Sox look decent, but their pitching is too thin to make the playoffs this year.

Except that dolphin is basing his analysis on actual current MLB performance rather than minor leaguers who might or might not bring good things to the MLB club years and/or months down the road.

Try again.
