Actually, now that I look at it, I think he was making fun of himself.

You keep going out on limbs. Ill just watch people correct you and you get upset about it.

Last years 10th best was Andrew McCutchen. 26 was Evan Longoria.

Whoops
OPS matters until OPS doesn't matter I guess.

That makes zero sense.

McCutchen was not far superior to Longoria. No one who knows baseball would say that (Oh, look Frank said it)

McCutchen WAR: 7.9
Longoria WAR: 6.7

You would also say that OBP doesnt matter, RBI's are a good stat, Wins are terrible, and doing better than the Cubs is a good measure of success.

You say a lot of things. Most of them are wrong.

You are the one that caused us to use OPS as an important stat.

You continue to make subtle jabs at the baseball knowledge of others though. It helps things.

Still not making any sense.

OPS is important. A 50 point difference is not Far Superior. 100 points usually is.

Its really pretty simple.

Andrew McCutchen was not far superior to Evan Longoria last year (50 pt difference)

He was vastly superior to Adam Jones (100 pt difference)

Frank has taken 5 "shots" at me (and Cub fans scrambling) for every 1 I take at him.

Yes, OPS is important.

That would be appreciated.

Just look at how respectful I have been to IMU's numerous horrible thoughts in this thread. "Young Joey Votto".

You're right.

In 2014, Votto is an older Anthony Rizzo,

So right now there is a noticeable difference between Rizzo and Abreu this season. Thanks for clarifying.

Correct.

No longer correct.

.926 OPS for Rizzo, .931 for Abreu

No worries, it's back to being correct again and closing in on "vast difference".

So, you are the kid IMU?

Rizzo; .275, 7HR, 21RBI, .396OBP, .860OPS, 1.0WAR

Abroo; .271, 15HR, 41RBI, .320OBP, .941OPS, 1.1WAR

By your own criteria Abreu is on the upper end of 'noticeable difference' and its clearly trending toward vast.

Edit; Abreu also lead the league in slugging, total bases, and games played.

Ol' Rizz must be Keith Hernandez with the glove. Does he throw lefty? I may have to become a fan if so.

He is good, but these Defensive WAR values seem out of whack

See Brett Lawrie, Ben Zobrist

OPS takes average, homeruns, and obp into its formula.

Could just post the OPS. RBI is not included though.

I'm a strong believer in OPS (and WAR). The OPS is what it is, and I stick by my scale.

But I also don't judge seasons or careers on two months either, because we've all seen players go on fantastic tears with memorable flameouts.

Abreu will not be far superior to Rizzo.

He has never been far superior yet. I don't think they've ever been split by .100 OPS? Maybe during the first week of the season?

This IS Rizzo's tear when judged in the context of his 1,200 AB
