i was one of the few bears fans that was really indifferent with rex. i wasnt wholeheartedly behind him, but i wasnt calling for him to ride the pine either. if he looks as bad against dallas next week as he has the past 3 games (super bowl, SD, KC-- hell even some of the preseason), its time to cut the cord with rex and get griese in there. griese, nor kyle orton, could do any worse than rex did in the 2nd half yesterday.

but hey, at least he didnt drop any snaps!

I like Rex, but I wouldn't be opposed to that if he's terrible.

IF he is terrible? IF? What else do you need to see to realize that he is terrible?

I think they stay with bonus coverage until 3:15 all the time, afaik

What's the problem with having another game on until the Bears kick off ?

It wasn't until kickoff, it was until about 3:30 was left in the first quarter. I'm in Champaign, so the Chicago game is only the secondary market, not the primary market, so they weren't going to switch. WCIA (the CBS station down here) had to be receiving a ton of calls because they were running a scroll at the top of the screen saying "we have contacted CBS and they are not switching to the Bears game until the conclusion of the current one." That's assinine, and of course they waiting until even after the game was decided. Then, they ran a slate of commercials until the current drive was finished, and then another slate of local commercials between drives. I didn't miss anything too important, but I missed about a quarter of the game, and that pisses me off.

Who is the number one market? Indy?

I don't think he's as bad as he's been playing. The system Turner is running isn't the right one for him. One of those evils need to change.

System didn't make him five foot nine with girly little hands and processing ability or a turtle.

Rex's quick release isn't NFL-grade quick. Receivers, o-line, and RBs as blockers - I agree they blow. Moose shouldn't have left the bench since after the Carolina game two years ago.

how about the fact that rex' second half mechanics looked like he was a high school qb?

St. Louis, Chicago, and Indy are all equally important, with a very slight edge to Chicago because if a Chicago game and a St. Louis game are both scheduled at the same time, the Chicago game will come on. I wouldn't have been surprised or upset had the Indy game ran long and the Chicago game was preempted, because there's a lot of Colt fans down here too, and Indy is closer to Champaign than Chicago is. The 4th quarter of that game is more important than the 4th quarter of the Chicago game (I know I'd be pissed if they cut out of a close game that I watched the entirity of in order to start another game.) But that's not what happened. The Indy game ended at 3:15, and then CBS cut to Cincy/Cleveland, which we hadn't seen any of during the day.

I perhaps wouldn't have gone with terrible, at least not until it was revealed during the broadcast that last year he admitted that he locked in his receiver before he even got under center. I thought I misheard the broadcasters, but then Simms repeated it, adding that Rex feels that he has improved this year.

The improvement being that now he locks on his receiver once he is under center and can actually "see the defense".

Sorry if this was discussed earlier, if I did, I guess that makes my reading today right on par with Rex's during much of game times.

The Bears' offense can be called "pedestrian" at best. I can clearly recall that Seattle game last year on Sunday Night Football when Rex was flinging the ball around like Brett Favre.
This past Sunday the offense looked like it had no intention of moving the ball with any authority. Lovie says they run the ball as soon as they get off the bus. Bullshit! They were passin-motherfuckers in that third quarter.
Please lets just keep Hester on special teams and call it a season. If he gets lit up and hurt on some stupid passing play, they should run Lovie out of the city.
The Bears defense will be better than last year. Tommie Harris and Darwin Walker owned the Chiefs on Sunday.

I hope you see now that my O-line criticisms weren't merely Benson apologies. This is going to be a problem. Hopefully they can get it together for this one year, and next year that's going to be the #1 concern, by far and away.
