I don't want him at all. Taj has earned the right to start. I would be pissed if they traded Boozer for him.

I want a starting lineup of:

Gasol PF1
Love PF2
Taj PF3
Deng G/F
Noah PG

Dem rebounds.

Both are declining players, but yeah I'd swap boozer for him if that was the deal, and if they have equal years left on the contracts.

Yep, Pau is up at the end of next season. I'm not really sure why the Lakers would make this deal though.

1 Year of Gasol > 1 Year of Boozer

Unless the Bulls have to give up something additional, which would just be silly.

Gasol is a free agent and he isn't a star anymore. Why would you go after a PF/C like him when you have Taj and Noah? The Bulls have the potential to shed Boozer's contract and they'll get a $5M boost from the increase in the salary cap.

I love Pau Gasol in an unnatural way, so I'd love to see him in a Bulls uniform.

Well if I had to choose between Booz and Gasol I'd go Gasol. If there was a third option to be rid of boozers contract then I'd probably do that.

I'd gladly show Gibson the way back to the bench if Gasol was acquired. Yes he's not a star anymore but he would provide the team's only scoring threat in the absence of Rose and Deng. Gibson would still be valuable whether starting or off the bench. Like DB said, however, not sure why LA would swap Gasol for Carlos.

Gasol is a free agent. It would be FOOLISH to tie up a declining 33 year old big man for at least $10M for multiple years. Considering he can't get his own shot his post scoring would be pointless. He can still be bullied and we saw from the Lakers that he isn't reliable and can't carry a team. That was when he was still really good. Amnesty Boozer and find better and younger scoring options with the $20M+ they will have. The Lakers would only do it to be a player in the 2015 free agent class.

Yeah I'd never sign him for more than 5 million if he's a FA this year. I also wouldn't expect him to carry any team. At best I'd sign him to complement a championship-ready core.

Gasol is a mental midget around Kobe. He'll be better on the Bulls.

He wants more than that. When I hear these types of stories I fear the Bulls will either trade Taj or they are getting ready to put together another bullshit roster that will force Thibs to make more chicken salad. They need a scorer that can carry a team.

I like Gasol. I still can't believe that parting ways with Tyrus Thomas is what prevented the Bulls from getting him from Memphis. I just don't believe his decline will be graceful. I see a lot of injuries in his future and mediocre play. If this were 2010 I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Well if adding Taj in a larger package would get you someone like Love then you do it. Trading Taj Gibson will not be the end of the Bulls.

I'm not a huge fan of Lance Stevenson but I would rather pay him $10M a year than give that money to Gasol. I'm sure there will be many trade options for the Bulls this summer.

I would trade Taj for Love. I wouldn't trade him for Melo though. I think Taj will be a 15 and 8 guy as starter and provide great energy and defense. His salary is a bargain too.

I'm not a Melo guy but depending on what else I'm giving up I'm still not going to hesitate to deal Gibson for him. Guys like Gibson aren't worth protecting when you can make a move that makes you an instant contender. Now of course you can do this NYK style and acquire a star despite not having a pre-existing culture conducive to winning, which is why their Melo and Marbury trades failed, or you can be Chicago which has that culture and just needs the right talent to take the next step. But to do that you have to be forward thinking and say bye to someone like Gibson.

They wouldn't have to say goodbye to Gibson in order to get Melo. Just dump Boozer and find someone to take Dunleavy and they'll have more than enough cap space. IMO there is no way to measure how valuable guys like Taj and Noah are. Taj obviously has some offensive talent but they provide so much more. They are championship players.

Even so, gotta disagree with you on this one. I'll stick to my opinion above: You should never let dealing a player like Gibson prevent you from completing a deal for a player that makes you an instant contender.

Even if you believe giving up Taj to get Melo is a smart basketball decision, why give him up if you don't have to? The Bulls can get Melo and just about any other player without having to trade Taj or Noah.

Definitely, if possible. If I'm new York I'm starting all over. If I was forced to deal with the Bulls I'd ask for Butler, Snell, Mirotic and picks. Might have to add more just to match up the money.
