How did they not know that though? Or not care?

BHO thought Republicans would like him more if he stood next to a guy that looked like he was from Duck Dynasty.

It is really a bad move and leaves me confused. I know we have all argued one way or another on BHO but this really makes me wonder if he knows what the fuck he is doing at all beyond the next week.

Edit to add that if this guy is a piece of shit I feel bad for dead attempted rescuers so bad. On the other hand it would not surprise me if the rescuers were teams to take him out as well.

It doesn't have to get into next week. It came out in hours. I don't understand this at all.

I meant BHO manages the 24 hour news cycle i.e. the Susan Rice video sunday morning crap. He has no longer range ability than to manage the message at all times in the now.

Ah gotcha.

I don't know about managing anything but he is either out of touch crazy or has some sort of personality disorder. Neither is good. I'm not political at all but this is crazy.

Thanks. Is what he said wrong or shocking or do you agree? And what does his statement have to do with any of this or do you want to criticize him for it? I don't know what the reason for quoting him was. What are you trying to highlight or point out?

John McCain came home in a..wait for it... Prisoner exchange. Should be the first person to a mic saying "we don't leave anybody behind. Ever". And actually Friday came out and said he supported the rumored Beau for 5 guys trade. Once the noise machine fired up he lost his spine. I lost a good deal of respect for him today.

I would have to look up the details of how McCain actually got out of Viet Nam hell camp to comment but one thing is for certain... He did not get captured deserting.

I also remember reading he did not go home or accept special treatment at times during his capture.

True. His father was a big deal and he refused to let that help him in returning without his men.

Where is the info on the prisoner exchange? I'm finding the Paris peace accords were to go in effect in January of 73 and he was released in March.

A prisoner exchange with a sovereign nation is different than a prisoner exchange with a terrorist group. As far as I know it was never, "We don't negotiate with sovereign nations." Just simply, "We don't negotiate with terrorists."

You can argue the losing his spine and such, that's fine, and a point in which I agree with for the most part but the above point is important when parsing this.

That's true, but you have to admit, the line between terrorist groups and sovereign nations is getting blurrier every day.

Scoreheading. Just because something happened later on (his Presidential run) doesn't change what he did in the past. I don't agree with a lot of his politics, but the man is a hero and deserves to be treated with respect.

No doubt that is correct.

I'll just point out that the Taliban outfit in question are not a terrorist group; it's the former political party in power in Afghanistan ... and before you write your reply, do also know that the State Department does not classify the Taliban (other than one Pakistani subset) as a terrorist organization.
