Germany is manhandling Portugal. They will kill the US, but Portugal definitely looks beatable.

For the USA team is this like NBA level players coming together from different teams to form a team or are these guys amateurs?

That was fun. Now off to get their asses handed to them by Portugal and Germany.

Against Germany: yes,
Against Portugal, I can see a draw or if the implosion from today continues they could sneak out a win.

ghana had a lot of missed opportunities that germany would definitely have converted. however...portugal's a bit overrated. i think there's a chance to at least draw...and that would be enough, i think.

this felt like revenge to me...ghana has owned us in the world cup last two times.

I felt like a chick watching sports. Didn't know any players, any strategy or anything. Just kick the ball in the net ya fruit boots.

But it was fun watching at a bar. Group of Ghana people were there and the rest of the Quebec pricks rooting against #1. U S A!

I remember when Portugal, with Luis Figo, one of the best players in the world, were supposed to hand us our asses in 2002.

granted I know basically nothing about soccer, but Portugal did not look like a team that the USA cannot beat. Now Germany looked like a world beater.

germany is loaded. portugal has some flash and they're quick but they're weak defensively from what i remember and i don't see ronaldo being all that special this time...in fact i think in 2010 he was kind of mr. invisible then too.

obviously portugal is losing pepe for a bit, but didn't they have another DB go down with a hamstring or something? and now i think i read that coentrao is out for 10 days along with that other DB i'm talking about?

still, USA was massively outplayed today. if they fuck around like that against portugal, even tho CR7 follows the whole mantra of "real madrid players are shit in the world cup" i think they can prolly do something against the USA if they do what ghana did and spend most of the 90mins building a cabin in the USA's box.

also i'm kind of eerily put-off at by how positive the english media is in the face of their loss. i guess it's just me and thierry henry thining "why the fuck aren't you playing rooney in his proper position/s if you have to play rooney?"

at least i know adrian durham will be there in the end to Caller Bob it up and shit all over england when the time is right.

As long as the US doesn't let Ronaldo kick their ass, they should be able to at least draw Portugal. They should be able to beat them, because the US couldn't play much worse than they did today.

After Germany beats Ghana, they may play a bunch of subs against the US. This would make things a bit better, even though their bench is still 100x better than the US.

That had to be the worst game of Michael Bradley's international career. In fact pretty much the whole team outside of Jones and Howard sucked balls. Dempsey was good the few times he touched the ball I guess.

I personally think we are better off without altidore so that was addition by subtraction.

The passing today was the most brutal I've ever see out of a USA team. If they strung 3 passes together more than 5 times today I'd ask for proof.

You must not have watched much USMNT in the past.

He's right about Jozy, although Johanssen isn't much of a backup.

clint dempsey has been our only true international threat as a scorer for the past 8 years. but..."i guess" he's okay (25 international goals in the past 4 years, including 2 world cup goals). landon donovan's had 15, same as altidore.

Dempsey's a great player, one of the best to ever play for the USA. What's your point? Did I miss the post in this thread where someone said he wasn't?

I was just trying to say that the USMNT has been horrendous for years at ball control and passing. Michael Bradley used to be the worst piece of shit on the field for years because his dad was the coach. He is so much better now though he was awful yesterday for some reason.
