Matt and Matt, The Two Matts....partners in life, radio and love. This two dudes hate each others guts and it's evident at times. 'Twas a decent show, yesterday. More sports oriented with some off-tracking but that was fun and confined. The hate and bile seeped through at times but they kept a lid on it and actually showed that they can work together and put out a good product.

But he was doing a show at one of the lowest rated times of the day in radio. And the station was getting shit ratings anyway, so...

Somehow they scored a long-form interview with Epstein and I heard the entire thing--I'm sure like everyone else--while stuck in the car. The two most painful moments, among many, were: 1) Spiegel trying to get Epstein to say that Tony Gwynn, a first-ballot hall of famer by far, legend in his own time, and universally adored human being, was overrated because BA means nothing anymore, even though his OBP was like .400 lifetime. Greg Fucking Maddux stated unequivocally--for years--that Gwynn was the toughest hitter he ever faced. Thankfully, Theo was all "I'm not gonna break a guy's stats down the day after he died."

2) anytime Drinky opens his mouth. Yikes. Why is it that when these nitwits get a GM on the phone they think they're Katie Couric interviewing the President once each term. Epstein strikes me as a thoughtful guy who is as much of a straight-shooter as one can be in his position. And yet they just waste the opportunity and give him nothing to work with. Blech. Fuck these losers.
