Martin and Thompson are pretty much a wash.
Barea is also SOLID.

Minnesota should be able to get a better deal than this.

I don't think Thompson is extraordinarily special, but still I don't think he belongs in the same sentence as Martin. Thompson offers way more upside at this point in their careers, and losing him will hurt GS initially since he's a big part of what they do to let Curry loose.

Thompson is exactly the sort of player the Bulls don't have to offer: bulls players made available are either demonstrably of lesser value when compared to Thompson, like Butler, or of too much value to include, like Noah perhaps. Thompson can help minny now and in the future. His inclusion will make it tough for the Bulls to match, that is if they were so inclined in the.first place.

I will be okay if the Bulls don't get Love and I don't want Melo. My fear is that the Bulls may waste the money on bums.

Sounds like Jerry will be handing out another big contract to Luol Deng.

Outside of the mega-stars (James, Melo, Wade, Bosh), the only name on the free agent list that is intriguing is Lance Stephenson. I'm a fan, but it's obviously a risky signing due to out-of-control/crazy factor of his game.

Well, I mean...I really want Love, but we all know I'm with you on Melo.

I would like Deng back at a reasonable number.

And I would definitely like Stephenson as the starting two guard.

Rose
Stephenson
Deng
Love
Noah

I really hope Deng doesn't return. Butler fills the role perfectly.

In that he does all of the same things at 40% efficiency, yes.

He's just as good of a defender and he is more athletic. His shot will come.

Deng isn't worth $10M a year.

I appreciate all the solid analysis on Love and Melo in this thread. The sick thing is, none of it works if D Rose is not healthy. If Rose goes down, it doesn't matter what we do.

It's a high-risk, high-reward situation. Whatever can be done to not have the ball in Rose's hands on EVERY key possession will be good for him. He probably won't be able to carry a team anymore when healthy, but this could be great for his carer if he can come back and be like 80% of the player he was before the injuries.

I'm all for Melo. Dude can flat out score. He's got a few years left, same as Noah. the window is now. Is Love really that dynamic of a scorer? I don't know, I don't watch that many T-Wolves games. (ie none)

It's a world where management knows they aren't worth it, either...yet they pay it anyways.

That's a bad world.

idk if i potentially mentioned this pre-thread (and i can't be arsed to look) but isn't there a story out of minnesota that the wolves basically hate kevin love? like he's all about himself and his stats and when things go wrong he's lighting fast to point the finger but never the thumb?

i think it's a risky proposition unless you can sign him to some sort of max extension now cuz isn't he eligible for FA after either this season or the next one? and i've recently heard national ESPN analysts mention the thibodeau/gar animus as something that's potentially poison to getting a big name FA (in that case melo) because who wants to go to a situation where the coach and the face-side-of-the-GM (cuz IIRC bernstein has officially gotten on message w/the bulls and said that THESE ARE 100% GAR DECISIONS so don't mind the man behind the curtain. we were never at war with garpax simply because there never was a garpax. update your scorecards accordingly) are actively trying to undermine each other?

still tho, if thibodeau sticks around at least he can coach up love and/or melo to the point where he takes them to the next level, much like he's done for a bunch of scrap heap talent who come here and thrive only to turn around and get 3-5mil/yr deals the next season somewhere else. it's for that reason that i say thibodeau is literally a pimp because he gets players made/paid/laid.

Sini...I think your posts would be more easily read, even at their current length, if you added some proper capitalization. I sometimes want to read your sports related posts...but it is a commitment I cannot quite make yet.

OK for the rest of today I'll try the capital letters thing just >FOR YOU< like Front242's Tyranny, Bane. We'll see if any passive/aggro new threads basically telling me to STFU pop up with my shiny new disposition.

And since I'm willing to do this >FOR YOU< I think you should be obliged to give proper good rap a chance.... So let's start with Saafir - Light Sleeper (OG version)

(Don't worry it's more stoned stream of consciousness than "street" braggadocio)

edit: fuck that IMU, let's go with a newschool yuppie song you might actually like: Latyrx - Exclamation Point.

Truthfully the Bulls need Love and someone like Melo because you can't count on Rose to be healthy. Love spreads the floor and is the best rebounder in the league and having a wing that can get his own shot is important in close games.

Probably the best chance for a Love trade by Thursday's draft is if the Bulls, with picks 16 and 19, step forth

@Chris_Broussard: Source: No way GState trading Klay Thompson to Minnesota or the Lakers.

I know they could trade Rose right now. A small market team would definitely make it work to take a flyer on him. I wish they would just do it. This is Roy/Penny/Hill/etc all over again

According to Chad Ford of ESPN, the Chicago Bulls offered yesterday Taj Gibson, Tony Snell, plus the No. 16 and No. 19 picks in this week's draft to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.

No way if I'm minny. A stud at 26 or whatever years old isn't worth two mid round picks, a low ceiling Snell, and soon to be thirty year old Gibson. Start with Mirotic, picks, and butler then maybe I'll listen in.

Is Love a winner or a stat stuffer on a bad team? Would you bid against yourself for him?

Even if he's a stat guy, I share your belief in Thibs ability to foster change. Now I'm fine with the reported deal from Chicago's perspective, but I think minny would be dumb to accept it.
