Right after the separation, Goff's tweets indicated that he had been shit-canned and that he viewed it as from CBS radio as a whole, not just the Hotlanta station. Tried searching for some of the relevant tweets over on twitter, no dice. And scrolling Jason1Goff's twitter timeline for 5 minutes holding down the PageDown key only takes you back to May 30th---dude tweets A LOT. Like hundreds of tweets per day. No idea why his tweets prior to May 30th appear to be inaccessible. Could be my lack of twitter knowledge. Image

Severing a long-time employee with the intention/possibility of bringing him back a few months down the road would be an unnecessarily costly way of doing biz (UI, COBRA, severance, yadda, yadda).

Might be possible to bring back Goff as a 1099 contractor--but would either Goff or the station want Goff hanging around WSCR as a disgruntled contractor after he had been a full-time employee for over a decade.

Maybe he's ready to announce that his sources say a Melo/Lebron package is imminent in Chicago?

Goff is pretty lame but he isn't Finfer. So, he has that going for him. If THE GAME picked him up, he'd instantly be the most listenable personality in their lineup. The Chicago sports radio outhouse is flushing all its other waste to 87.7. Why not Goff as well?

Maybe Goff can replace Hoge as the Bears beat guy. I think that position would also require him to write for the website. Goff probably isn't a good writer, but it's the Score's website. You don't have to be.

I'll say this. Goff will ask all the questions that Bernstein wants him to ask. He'll want to please Bernstein

Goff: Hey Jay, why don't ya get your damn kids vaccinated? It's because of you that fuckin' Polio is back, motha fucka. If I have kids they might get it cuz of you!!!! Ya dumb ass cracker!!!

Cutler: Who the fuck are you?

Goff: I'm Jason Goff, bitch. The son of a black man from Belize and a white man from Deerfield.

Cutler: Whatever, dude.

Depends if CBS treated it as a transfer when he went to Atlanta. It could have been a resignation and rehire. Meaning this would be the first round of Cobra and all and he may have been let go from there before some milestone as far as agreement? Who knows not sure why I care? Its possible but I doubt he works again for CBS this soon.

But he has a point. The corporate office has all of that paper work. Then they get new paper work where Goff is rejoining the company. So he then receives his first pay check after rejoining the Score as well as his severance check? That would be pretty cool. Maybe a first.

Yes, he does have a point, which I commended him for. Most of us don't talk about COBRA.

Wouldn't surprise me. The weirdest board people are sometimes the smartest folks. AF Aka PB was like an honor student at U of Chicago.

Look, Goff got his year as a talk show host. That's good for him to put on the resume. But he got fired. That's bad.

He has to now prove 2 things if he gets another shot.

1. That he can be a successful talk show host.

2. That he's not a hostile employee and will follow company policy, rules and regulations.

He was always under Bernstein's protection at the Score. Got away with a lot of stupidity and was able to wang whip people, without repercussion, because of this protection (Especially Dan McNeil). This was a good lesson for the Goff.

Does Goff's Sirius NBA show still go during the off season? I can't imagine there's much of an audience for NBA when there is no NBA. Even with the stupid free agency nonsense that's about to happen.

Hell, I can't understand that people want an ALL NBA show during the season.

Yeah , Finfer was able to actually secure a hosting gig here. It's funny all these defections to the Game from supposedly lesser talents than the great Jason Goff yet here he sits unemployed . Hard to believe Jim DeCastro is just ignoring the ratings bonanza that hiring Goff would would bring .Stoopid radio GM's.

Jimmy DeCastro just extended Steve Cochran's morning shift, to which Steve Cochran doesn't show up on time anyway. He is a stupid radio GM.

Steve Dahl showed up late for work, but in some sense it was part of the act. I think WGN just has to have Nick stay late to throw between news/weather/sports/traffic/etc until Cochran rolls in. "1 to 4 when the Cubs don't play," emphasis on "when the Cubs don't play," really was the perfect time slot for him.
