This wasn't a troll job. Its true that the offseason in this year's NBA is going to be one of the biggest stories of the 14-15 NBA season. Yes, Nas, the draft etc creates buzz, but when is the MLB draft a bigger story than the regular season? When is the NFL draft bigger than opening weekend? Its not that way in those sports. I don't know (or care) about the NHL, but I doubt their free agency is bigger than the winter classic or stadium series games.

Not one NBA fan here has said this free agency was going to be a bigger story than the actual season and playoffs.

But it is a big story and people actually enjoy following the news and activity.

MLB hot stove talk is a pretty big deal for a lot of people during the offeason.

NFL free agency and draft stuff is a big deal for many.

This is no different.

It would be if Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, and LeSean McCoy were free agents and fuelled.speculation that they may join forces together. This off season is atypical in terms of buzz. The vast majority are boring.

RFDC, you need to read what I originally posted. First, I never mentioned the playoffs, or baseball. Why did you even bring those up? Second, I never said anything about what story will be big or biggest. I said this offseason will provide more talk than most of the upcoming regular season, based on recent history. Thats a fact. ESPN has a lot to do with this as do people like Bernstien who keep hammering the points home, btw.

I presume that he has opted out so that it opens up the possibility to restructure his deal to bring in the next superstar to help them in their march to greatness again. Obviously that only works if the other two opt out as well. Assuming that, I'm somewhat interested to watch what Wade does as I'm curious if he's actually interested in anything other than his own self as far as fame and fortune are concerned.

All of the Miami Heat fans have started heading for the exit with the news this morning.

I don't think football is a good comparison benchmark. Sixteen games makes everything more condense. Losing one game against a division rival is enormously meaningful while you can brush it off in hockey and basketball. I think we can agree that for baseball, basketball, and perhaps hockey, the end season playoff race plus the post season is usually more entertaining than October basketball and spring baseball.
