I think you should be banned longer for diving than biting a guy. You bite a guy you're only hurting your own team (well the guy you bit probably too) if the ref sees it and you get carded. It's not like you get an advantage from it. In diving in the box you're directly trying to impact the outcome of the game through simulation. Maybe one in a million times the ref cards you for diving, but really there isn't much of a downside to doing it and it seems more often than not you win a penalty unfairly.

I don't agree with this, but I do agree that the diving needs to be punished more. The solution seems so simple to me. Allow for in game video review that can go on while the game is in play. Ref gets a call from the press box alerting him that so and so dove and to give that player a card, either red or yellow. Only issue I see is what do you do if in the meantime that player scores? I guess you could also have post game review and suspensions/bans can be given to players for future games based on diving. That would work well in tournaments, but wouldn't address any ill gotten benefits the diving player received during the game he dove in.

Why do they need replay? If the ref doesn't call a foul, he obviously thought it was a dive. If he did call a foul, they aren't going to admit wrongdoing.

Don't understand your point. Why would the refs need to admit they are wrong? It would be used the same way its used in every sport, to correct mistakes made by the on field officials. They get told they are wrong, no need to admit it.

Diving can actually be punished by red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. It just never is.

Yeah, hence the one in a million comment.

City that USA/Germany to play in is flooded due to heavy rains. A couple of Ghana's best players have been sent home for abusing Ghanaian Soccer officials.

Should make for an interesting morning.

would've been nice to score that equalizer at the end, but we'll take it.

Next up is Belgium who came in as everyone's dark horse pick, but has looked quite unimpressive in its first two games.

if this gets to penalties i would give brazil the edge but it'd be awesome if chile can pull off an upset goal here in AET.

Great game.

How does this work?

Is it sudden death first goal wins? Or do they play til a certain time? When will they go to penalty kicks?

Jesus. Soccer really needs to introduce a pause button to reduce the rolling around and crying. My goodness

No sudden death. Once OT starts it continues for two 15 minute halves. If still tied it goes to PKs.

Jesus . Game is 5 minutes old and Colombia is doing nothing but diving so far, and getting every call even when there isn't a foul. What a bunch of bitches. 85 more minutes of this shit?

Mexico just got screwed. Netherlands guy clearly flopped and got a penalty kick to score winning goal.

Horrible.

What a turn around in the 2nd half. Non stop pressure from the Dutch. I'll never understand playing not to lose like Mexico seemed to do. You have to believe Holland is too good not to score so why not push for more yourself?

In fairness, a clear penalty call was missed in the 1st half that went Mexico's way. Marquez is always chippy so I could see that being called a penalty and I'm Mexican.

Phew, that was close, was afraid the Ned-Mex match was going into extra time and then I'd never get my tacos.
