It's obvious that Melo wanted to watch Rose work out?

How do you feel about the reports so far? Knicks still reportedly saying no to Boozer. Sounds like they need a few sweeteners to make it work.

From what I've seen, the Knicks and Bulls aren't even talking right now.

Does a sign and trade really help the Bulls or Melo?

Boozer is the issue and he can be amnestied. No matter how it plays out, the Bulls can't pay Melo more than $15M.

The above is incorrect:

K.C. Johnson wrote:
Barring the Knicks agreeing to engage in sign-and-trade talks, keeping Gibson and his $8million salary would limit Anthony's payday. Though sources have indicated the Bulls would be aggressive in making necessary moves if Anthony verbally committed, the Bulls would have to amnesty Carlos Boozer and trade Mike Dunleavy, Jimmy Butler and Anthony Randolph for a starting salary of $16.9million.

The Knicks, who will speak to Anthony last after his weeklong tour of four teams, can offer a first-year salary of $22.5 million.

This is why the Bulls' ideal scenario is for Anthony to commit and persuade Knicks President Phil Jackson to engage in sign-and-trade talks. Not only would that get Anthony closer to a maximum salary, it would allow the Bulls to remain over the salary cap and thus use exceptions to sign other players.

Boston and LA don't seem to have that issue.

Exactly! Magic played with Kareem and took the torch before he retired and Bird came along a decade after the Russell teams. Same with Pierce and KG.

None of them are Mike

Jordan is an NBA Superhero. No one is close to his level of adoration. Every single great player gets compared to him. Multiply that by eleventy playing in Chicago.

I think it definitely factors in. Ill bet it did with LeBron.

I would agree, but I also think Paxson lacks the charismatic personality that helps recruit free agents. Guys like Jerry West, Pat Riley, Doc Rivers, etc., have been successful in luring free agents to their teams because they have an aura about them in one way or another.

I see the point you are making but winning changes all of that. No one is asking Melo to surpass Jordan (that would have been the case with LeBron) they just want to see him win a title. Boston fans didn't tell Bird his 3 titles weren't good enough. The fans in LA didn't tell Magic a 5-4 record in the Finals should be better. Chicago fans will enjoy a championship or 2. We won't knock Melo or need to compare him to Jordan.

TM you make a great point. I don't believe Paxson was there yesterday. Thibs was playing the role of Riley and others. I have to believe Leon Rose is helping him out.

THE REAL MEETING

D rose and Noah taking Melo around the UC, basically the areas they know. Where they park, check in, players will call concierge, then the time they hung out in the players lounge area.

I dont know what was said, neither do most of the Bulls people and they didnt ask, but this is what should have always been done in the past.

Money will always rule to a point and sometimes it didnt matter if you went to McD's or Gibsons, but this kind of "players only time' should have always been part of this type of process.

Would make sense, wouldn't it?

Do you plan to have someone work out at a meeting like this if it is not requested by the guy you are trying to woo?

Seems really odd to me that Pax was not at this deal.

Schanowski on with meat and roz saying he does not think Taj is a major factor in Melo coming because the Bulls would like Melo to play the 4 with McDermott as the 3.

Yeah i am not sure on that.

Noah Taj Melo is way better than Noah Melo McDermott

I don't see them telling Taj to show up knowing that they plan on trading him.

I thought Melo specifically asked Taj to show up because he considers Taj an essential component of the team.

If Melo comes to Chicago, Taj will be a starter.

There are reports stating the Knicks have already offered Melo a max deal. If the Knicks don't want Boozer I'm wondering if there is a chance to get LA involved. Maybe even include Gasol in a sign and trade. Boozer and picks to LA and trade exception to the Knicks.

Jermey Lin is irritated that the Rockets put up images of Melo in his #7

The pictures I saw from Houston didn't include championship trophies. It makes sense considering Dwight Howard is on the team.

Houston does have two banners hanging for what it's worth.

Blame Jordan for gambling and getting suspended...

They know those are asterisk trophies. I'm curious how they plan on selling him how to play with Harden and get out of the West.
