Highly recommended if you are salad averse like me.

Three convenient locations (if you live in Milwaukee).

We go to Vann's in East Dundee. The place is a local hot spot.

my go-to place used to be Mack's in Waukesha, but that place went bye-bye.

Kopp's ranks second among the 20 or so frozen custard places I've tried in the Milwaukee area.

Leon's holds the coveted top spot.

What's your top 5, Hawg Ass?

I tried to get a custard from Donald Duks on Western in Ukie Village late last night, but the lady said she just down the machine a few minutes before I came. Had to settle for a Frosty from Wendy's.

Custard has such a ridiculous amount of eggs

Was making ice cream over the weekend and I have one book- Ratio- where it's 9 eggs: 3 c cream/milk
Using NYT master ice cream recipe, it's 6 eggs: 3 c cream/milk

Glad to see we agree on Leon's! That place is fantastic and has a great vibe.

I've had Robert's and Oscar's, too. They're both very good, but I like Kopp's a little more. On the one occasion I stopped at Gille's, I wasn't impressed.

I'm not the biggest fan of Culver's, but it's fine in a pinch. Why the hate?

There are so many better options for me up here, it really is bad when you can get some of the other custard.

Leon's is a treasure, but right now a pain in the ass to get to as 27th St. is all kinds of torn up. My son played a baseball game by there a few weeks back, and it was to much of a pain to even try and get there. :(

Agreed. Culver's doesn't come close to the vast majority of the locally-owned frozen custard stands in the Milwaukee area.

IMU: Next time you're in the Wrigleyville area, give Scooter's Frozen Custard a try. They're located at the corner of Belmont and Paulina. The Banana Pie Crust Concrete is a mind-blowing experience.

Kopp's #1, Oscar's #2 for me. Frozen Custard is also A Thing in Missouri. There's a pretty good stand out by Lake of the Ozarks, but I can't remember the name.

Culver's is OK. It's a solid baseline for measuring custard performance. Culver's is replacement level.

I believe you're talking about Andy's, which I don't think is on the same level as the best Milwaukee custard.

It appears there was both an Andy's and a Randy's on the same stretch of road. I went to Andy's. It was good, but couldn't compete with the Milwaukee stands, no.

Does Leon's have hamburgers and onion rings like Kopps? If not, the two have to be judged on the entire meal they provide...and yes I usually will drive up to get a waffle cone of the flavor of the day then eat a burger and rings on the drive back.

Does Leon's have the different flavors. I don't see how they can be much better than whatever Kopps is serving as the flavor of the day. The chocolate and vanilla could be better.

I hope to give Leon's a shot somtime later this summer. I've only done Kopps which is pretty decent.
I used to go there for lunch once every couple months when i worked in New Berlin. I was there for
their burger though and not the custard.

There is actually a bar across the street from Leon's--the name is escaping me right now--that has a pretty fantastic burger.

Edit: Mazo's is the name of the place.

I last was there a few years ago, so I don't have recent information to convey. But circa 2010 or 2011 they made a very nice pub burger that I enjoyed after visiting Leon's for some custard.

The burgers at Leon's are also, incidentally, quite good.
