John Spinks, guitarist and songwriter for British pop rock trio The Outfield, died Wednesday following a fight with liver cancer. He was 60.

The Outfield charted eight Billboard Hot 100 hits in 1986-92, led by its No. 6 debut smash "Your Love." The band's debut album, "Play Deep," reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200, spending 66 weeks on the chart and going Platinum, according to the RIAA.

Wow bummer. The Outfield were amongst my favorite purveyors of pop rock in the 80's.

Voices of Babylon is a great album.

60? So he was already in his 30s when they hit big. Late bloomer.

Sounds about right. Even at the tender age of 21 I was 5 years too old for most of the females in attendance there.

They should give GORDO another year, because now he cant possibly do well this year.

Year 7 he should start to turn it around and be the guy he was in his first 150 at bats back in 1972
