 What?

So the fact that Carmelo's teams have never really mattered is actually an excuse for Carmelo?

This whole thread goes back to the simple concept from Goff that you should "get the ball to Carmelo and get out of the way". Well, that hasn't worked well, and the excuses as to why it hasn't keep on going away.

I didn't know 2-3 was comparable to 30 Boston offered about 5 million and if I remembered it right he came off the bench at the end. His playing time was being taken by Avery Bradley. That's also a reason that he left. Tim Duncan nor Dirk is considered to be a max player at this stage. How much money are they relinquishing. I'm sure it's not what Carmelo is asked to give up

Bosh just got offered 4 years $96 million and Duncan is probably still a better player than him. Dirk almost definitely is. Obviously he's younger but it's just flat out wrong to say Duncan and Dirk haven't been max players the past six years. Maybe you didn't see the 2011 Finals.

So the fact that Carmelo's teams have never really mattered is actually an excuse for Carmelo? Who you play with determines your ability to win. No player can win it all by himself. Ironically Lebron James is ready to roll when the big three is no longer the big three. Carmelo Anthony is expected to win a championship win his second player is JR Smith. Bosh and Wade would have been the second and third best player on the Knicks team. The opting out of James validates the point from two yrs ago. Your argument lacks validity which appears to be a recurring theme. You want address the point being made which is that he has never been on a team that was expected to win. Without a top five wade and an all star level Bosh Miami wins nothing that's my point . Carmelo Anthony has never been on a team with a player as good as Wade. There was the one year with Billups when Denver gave the Lakers a run in the Western finals Lakers were still favored to win

This whole thread goes back to the simple concept from Goff that you should "get the ball to Carmelo and get out of the way". Well, that hasn't worked well, and the excuses as to why it hasn't keep on going away.

I'm told Melo will not take the full $129 million from the Knicks. Don't have exact figures but it's north of $122 million

Well now he can say it is not about the money

And it is still over 40 million more than the Bulls were offering. It's interesting that the only people criticizing the guy for passing on the Bulls offer are Bulls fans. Please don't say that the Bulls were offering 4 yrs 96. The most that I've heard is about 4 and 75million. No one but the people on this board have stated the Bulls offer was 4yrs $96 million

I guess you missed the report of the Bulls pitching Marshmelo Anthony on their roster with or without Taj. Even then it really isn't much more because he would have eventually played a 5th year with the Bulls. LeBron James just bet on himself because he knows he'll get even more money after the new television deal. Among the many offers the Bulls made was a 2 year deal so he could also cash in when the new TV deal went into effect. Marshmelo Anthony wouldn't even bet on himself.

If he plays out his contract and doesn't bitch about not being on a contending team, he deserves no real criticism. If he was smart he would have an opt out after year 2 since new TV rights will be in play.

Which sight was it on. Once again no one except Bulls fans are criticizing the guy. It's the same group that believed he wasn't a winner anyway. Check the comments from two yrs ago. It's interesting how most believed that you couldn't win with his I so ball style. Now this same appears to view him as some sort of missing piece. I hope the report wasn't bleacher report or STATION or one of Terry's guys. I Haven't seen any sight which says that Taj was offered. Now you are criticizing him for not taking the offer that Lebron James took. Lebron James had his own reasons for returning back to Cleveland.

I don't blame Carmelo for taking the money and the years. There is no guarantee he would be worth a max deal in two years. He's not Lebron. He just can't bitch about a bad supporting cast, as many already mentioned.

It was in the Suntimes or Tribune. LeBron bet on himself. Knowing full well that he will cash in in 2 years. Marshmelo has always been afraid to make that bet. That's fine too. I just don't want to hear him complain about losing. He signed up for it.

I agree with that. He forfeits the right to complain about playing for a losing team. Didn't try to quote previously hit the send button by accident. Something tells me he will be complaining in about 2 or 3 years though.

There's nothing wrong with taking the money. Melo's mistake was publicly stating "it's not about the money now. It's about winning championships" (or something to that effect). That is why he is getting backlash.
