I don't think Bear fans were wishing for Griese so much as they were wishing that the seemingly interminable Rex Grossman Experiment would come to an end.

If so, then we finally find out if he sucks or not. This is the perfect time. If Griese sucks, we will know it. Let's just hope that Rex is ready to try and win the job back. Finally Rex has to try and earn it back. Maybe this will be the best thing for us.

OK. We're revamping the centerpiece of the offense. Hate to say it boys, but the door is wide open for the Packers now.

The only way Rex sees the field again is if both Griese and Orton definitively fail or are injured. Most likely, though, the next time Rex plays in Soldier field, it will be in another team's uniform.

This is what I never understood. It's like Rex has to be handed everything on a silver platter or it's over. I thought that Rex could have been benched last year and fought back to get his spot. Even if Griese had played in the playoffs last year, the competition still should have been open at the start of this year.

It is a sad thing with how things worked out. There are a lot of stories of QB's who get benched and work their way back into the starting lineup. I wish Rex would have had the chance but it may be too late.

It's better to open the door to the Packers now by moving past the Rex Grossman era than it would be to keep Rex in at quarterback and take it in the back door from the Packers for the next few years.

You guys are problably right but I just don't see the point in putting in so much blind faith in Rex and not giving him at least one more shot to get the job back. If Griese is good, then he plays. If Griese is bad, then you have to consider both Orton and Grossman. That is a tough choice and it depends a lot on how they show up in practice.

I would like to see Orton out there if Griese doesn't work out as I still have a lot of faith in him but it is a shame that Rex is pretty much done.

I've never jumped off of the Orton bandwagon, but I also hope that we still keep the option open on him.

I wouldn't be suprised if Rex started the Detroit game and Griese came in to start the second half if/when Rex sucks...

i like the move. at this point, griese, orton, chad hutchinson, or kordell stewart could do no worse.

the problem is its the same bad Oline, same bad WRs, same butterfinger running backs..

Well at least we don't have to worry about Lovie starting to sound like Ozzie. Without the horses, healthy or not, nobody wins in the NFL.
That goes for the horses ass calling the plays too. Nice to see that Ron "Illini" Turner can structure his offense around the players he has year in and year out.

If Rex goes then Ronnie the Guru needs to be following him with the luggage.

griese has a LOT of trouble with blitzers, they force him into turnovers because he has no escapability and can't throw deep. other than that, he's okay.
