Snell and McDermott are both looking spectacular so far. I know it probably means nothing, but it's good to see Snell added some muscle, and most importantly cut that horrible hair-do off.

Also, I caught some of their game against the Clippers on Saturday. Walt Frazier was doing commentary on the broadcast, and it was absolutely horrific. The guy might have been solid commentator for years, but he can barely form a coherent thought on the broadcast. It reminded me of Red Kerr at the end of his broadcast career.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Michael Beasley didn't care that players from other teams ringed the gymnasium to watch him play, didn't bat an eye at the thought of this being his pressure-packed pro debut and, most impressively, didn't back down one inch at facing established NBA players Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas.

Beasley was so cool and so smooth throughout his often effortless-looking 28-point, nine-rebound demolition of the Chicago Bulls' summer league squad Monday that the only criticism was that he did it all while singing a song aloud.

The same easygoing manner, however, wasn't evident in the debut of fellow rookie Derrick Rose, who looked jittery and shockingly unsure of himself at times in this showdown of the top two players selected in the NBA draft. Rose, a playmaking point guard, went No. 1 to Chicago and Beasley No. 2 to Miami, but on Monday at least, it clearly was the Heat's new power forward who was far and away the best player on the floor.

Beasley, whose work ethic and off-court focus was questioned in the days before the draft, might have put some of those concerns to rest Monday with a dazzling display of offensive moves. Nothing, he admitted afterward in a sometimes wacky postgame news conference, was going to change him from being the cocksure player who easily dominated college basketball and had his way in Monday's professional debut.

Each team basically consists of 1-3 rookies or 2nd year players that will make the team, and everyone else on each roster has about 0.01% of making the team, and is basically showcasing their talents for the D-league or Euro scouts.

I was as low as anyone on Snell, but his putting on weight and looking competent so far is at least encouraging. Maybe he can play.

Hard to believe McDermott could've gone 3 for 10 in Thursday's summer league game, especially given that he's already one of the best shooters in the NBA.

They are trying to save him for the real playoffs. You saw how important he was. They lost their first game by 20.

Wait a second, so Snell achieved a higher FG and 3-Pt shooting % than McDermott during Summer League play?

That's an amazing feat given that McDermott is, according to several posters here, already one of the best shooters in the NBA. If Snell is even better than McDermott--and not the useless stiff he appears to be--then I guess the Bulls are bound for glory this season!

It's a very small sample size. If you want to make a wager about who will shot the 3 better or have a better overall FG percentage I would be happy to take you up on that.
