My embarassment comes with steak. I have a family member that puts ketchup on steak... I wont even go out to a steakhouse with them anymore. My wife will ask for steak sauce no matter where we are. She started to ask when we were at Del Frisco and I had to interrupt her and change the subject.

I've had to learn to curb my hatred for steak sauce, as the fiance can't eat a steak without it. I took offense at first, but people like what they like, so whatever.

But ketchup? Pretty sure if she put ketchup on one of my steaks the engagement would be off. :lol:

I'm of the opinion that if you cant eat a steak without steak sauce, then you probably dont really like steak. My son saw my wife putting A1 on her steak a couple of weeks ago and he asked if he could use the sauce. I lied to him and told him no, it was only for grown ups... :?

I have to teach these children right.

As God as my witness, I didn't know they had varieties of A1 steak sauce until my wife bought one for my youngest. And he douses his steaks in the stuff. :oops: :oops: :oops:

But on the bright side I've introduced the wife to just putting a little compound butter ("instead of" steak sauce) on the regular supermarket steaks. So there's a little hope.

Unless I grind it myself I do not eat ground beef unless it is cooked through. Just a personal preference.

Scooter, you've said you've worked in some sort of meat slaughterhouse...It's bad isn't it? A lot of the "propaganda" is true? If I can ask where do you get your meat from? Are butchers typically okay? I have a hard time navigating this area. Some stuff is too expensive but does seem worth it.

I sort of agree, but part of me thinks that maybe they should be trying some other burgers like a portobello mushroom or something -- they might like the taste of it better than an overcooked burger. I don't have to eat it so that's good.

A quick aside -- I went out with a couple of other couples to Frontera, and some other wife orders the goat ribs... I haven't gone out with them much in the past, but I know from talking to the guy that they don't go very far out of the wheelhouse, so I was semi impressed that she ordered that -- thought maybe the guy was a bit of a wuss. He would never order anything beyond the basics when I would go to lunch with him at work. Anyway, food gets there (best coleslaw in my life, easily, btw) and she has about two bites and says, I don't like this. So he gives her his pork tenderloin and has to suffer through goat ribs. I felt kinda bad, but kinda not. Am I a bad guy?
