I think Lovie learned his lesson. He's going to let his O take some priority, get some attention, and stay out of the way.

I think Lovie is going to be very successful going forward.

Lovie is under appreciated & disliked by many in Chicago because of his douchebaggery & assholery. Bears Management also grew tired of it & decided it was time for a change. They were right.

I'd confidently wager against Trestman achieving the same success as Lovie. Nine years with a winning percentage of .560 is very impressive.

Your bar is set too low. Nine years with 5 winning seasons & 3 playoff appearances...& just 1 in the last 6 years, is average, not impressive.

I have higher expectations than that.

After his first season what was his worst record? How many losing seasons did they have after his first year?

That would be the appropriate measuring stick regarding lessons learned from his Bears tenure - what is his approach to offense in TB. More than hiring someone then staying away, he should constantly consult with experts regarding his staff, talent, and systems to ensure his approach is in line with modern, winning standards. He needs a personal reformation regarding his approach to overseeing both sides of the ball.

So your point is that he was terrible. What a wonderful bar to set!

How many coaches in the NFL can say that their worst record in 8 years was 7-9?

What are we arguing about? Are you trying to tell me that Lovie was great as a head coach?

It's bizarre to see such a high level of out-of-town silliness about a fella so soon after said fella just left town.

I know. Your boner was showing.
Lovie was pretty Damn average. But as far as bears coaches go I guess that's super.

Lovie was an above-average coach with limitations.

Unfortunately those limitations were winning important games against good teams.

Was that when they won 10 games and still didn't make the playoffs?

It was the year they lost to the Packers in the NFC Title Game.

Listening to the Score and general sense from comments sections below McCown articles there seems to be a "I can't wait to see McCown fail in Tampa" sentiment from Bears fans. Why? It's freaking weird. All the cowboy did was go from coaching high school football to being a beyond solid backup. He essentially saved the Bears season last year by outplaying Cutler and never once was he a distraction.

I know there's a belief that he'll be exposed without having Marshall and Jeffery and will revert back to the QB he was for his career before joining Chicago. That Bucs offense has talent though - Vincent Jackson, they drafted Mike Evans, and Doug Martin had a strong season. If I'm not mistaken, they made some offensive line changes as well.

I think he'll have some regression, he played a very high level here, but I do expect that he'll be serviceable in TB.

Before you Lovie lovers put the Bucs in the Super Bowl, remember that Lovie has complete control in Tampa including player & roster responsibility. Lovie has the final say. The Bucs "GM" Jason Licht, who is a boob, essentially reports to Lovie.

Good luck to the Bucs. Tampa could be fun bad.

What previous performance of Lovie's would lead you to believe this? His criticism was that he never made a team great, but his teams were almost always competitive.

If it's true that Lovie has control over talent evaluation, the Bucs' decline will be steep and imminent.

Who in the hell lets the head coach hire the GM? The Bucs...thats who.

Enjoy the Lovie show Tampa Bay.

Plus, 3-3 in the playoffs.

Pardon me if I don't start cranking out hymns about this misunderstood legend.

Article is from 2008 and includes the season prior to Smith's arrival. Reference hurts your argument.
