The plan worked. The future is here. I hope my team can tank for five years so we can compete. As I wake up today on the last day of the baseball season I am excited to see the future of the Cubs. They should be a 90 win team next year.

Well done Theo. Your job is complete. We know you can't hold anyone accountable for playoff success since it is random so take your victory lap. It's gonna happen!

Solid Friday post.

They will win so many preseason prediction awards and Minor League World Series awards.

It will make your head spin.

They were bad the two years before. I didn't say intentional tanking because people get mad when you say the Cubs were trying to lose.

NOT ME!

Theo's fear going into any of the three seasons was making sure the team sucked enough in April,so he could flip guys in July. If by some miracle, the team was competitive going into mid-season,that flipping would have come under heavy scrutiny.

Not really tanking in 10-11. Just didnt put a good team on the field but it wasnt for lack of trying.

What does "Just didn't put a good team on the field" mean?

What does "Just didn't put a good team on the field" mean?

It means the GM tried to put together a contender but failed (Signed Marlon Byrd going into 2010 and traded for Garza going into 2011)

SEE: 2014 White Sox :D

I guess when you are 365-387 over the same five years with NO playoff apperances you have a lot to brag about.

In hindsight, the White Sox have been way too good over the past 5 years.

Ignoring allegiances, which organization would you rather have going into next season?

I'll take the team with the 2014 HR champ, batting champ, cy young, and CF gold glove all of whom are under 30 and team controlled for 5+ years.

Probably wont win any of them.

Remember how many championships were won when Prior and Woody threw in the towel.

Any future success with this Cubs team/regime will feel dirty.

Watching last night's game was nauseating, if not fun bad (first nine Padre batters of the 6th reached base, and all scored...need Elias to tell us if that has ever happened). The Padres offense absolutely BLOWS -- it's historically bad -- yet they put up 21 runs in the last two games on this pile of shit. And we get inundated with talk and graphics about how the minor leaguers are doing.

Kasper did make an interesting comment near the end...he said that this awful performance is the kind that demands roster moves...that someone needs to "own it." I wonder if he knows something's coming.

The Padres could've gotten to 20 if Renteria was feeling generous and called for Villanueva and Grimm.

When do the Cubs stretch out Ramirez? Wait until the off-season?

JB,I always enjoy your Cub thoughts but you actually WATCHED that game? I watched CFL Football but that game was boring too (in the 2nd half). I don't see Kasper ever stepping out with out making sure it's OK with Cub Brass. He's a spineless weasel along with JD. A team that celebrates a Harry Caray would have fired anyone as critical as him in year 1 .(like Bob Brenly, maybe?)

He has been a starter throughout his professional career. A great closer is important, but if he can be great starter, isn't that more important?

Yeah it's more important, but if he's successful at what he's doing I wouldn't want to mess with it. It gives me visions of Joba Chamberlain.

I'd just rather have 200 innings of trust over 75 innings of trust.

He has had serious arm trouble which is likely to result in him never starting in MLB

Maybe.

The Cubs just really need to address starting pitching this off-season.

I really think you need to have one more year of tanking. Pitch these rookies with wood and arrieta. Bring up hitters in June.

Maybe you go all in with scherzer as he is still young. I don't know theos relationship with Lester. Wasn't he part of the chicken and beer during the game guys?
