It's the favorite past time of Cubbie Nation: Predicting injuries of White Sox players!

Anyway, I think there's a SOLID chance Abreu ends up far superior to Rizzo in career OPS.

I hope you're wrong.... in the sense that they are both great for years. I hope that they dont both suck and Abreu just sucks less

We dont have any players on the actual Cubs to be worried about for health. The only two players worth a damn seem to be horses.

It does change the point, because part of your point was assuming Rizzo has an established production level.

I think most people would look at a 24 year old highly rated prospect setting new career highs as starting to become what he will be instead of an "anomaly"

So this is basically "Don't say Rizzo has a chance of declining from his numbers this year". Got it.

Sorry. I didn't know that was unacceptable.

We're only a year away from Votto being a poor man's Rizzo!

No, it's basically "Dont pretend less than two full seasons is enough to know what a baseball player will be"

Pretty simple. I know you get it.

If you think Rizzo is peaking, I disagree but its certainly possible but that's a different argument

Dont be putting IMU's thoughts on me.

Rizzo might be worse next year. Maybe he'll have a Saberhagen type career. Who knows.

I'm just messing around. I like Rizzo a lot. It seems like he's the type of guy you have to try pretty hard to dislike.

I literally put my palm to my head when you did this. Are you just trolling me now.

Let me say this for the last time before I move on: It is only a comparison of the likelihood of decline between Rizzo and Abreu. That is it. The likelihood of decline for Rizzo may be 2% and 1% for Abreu. That is it. I'm not saying Rizzo will go back to how he performed his rookie year. That is it. What we see with Abreu is likely how good he is and given what he had to overcome this year he is more likely to improve from this. We have no other evidence against that since this is his rookie year. With Rizzo, we can look back at his track record and make a case that this year may be more than we'd expect out of him long term.

I dont know why you're getting so frustrated. We have severly different definitions of what "career year" means

Its not a big deal.

Exactly. IMU is tying himself up in knots here. He needs to just accept that the White Sox have one of the five best hitters in baseball signed up long term for like $11M/year.

The Cub fans on the Score this morning can't wait for him to opt out in a couple years.

He can't opt out of his contract. He can opt in for arbitration for years 4-6.

That's fine. By then he'll be a 38 year old with a limp and a bad back, right?

I know. Spiegel and Abbatacola didn't. Can't expert your baseball experts to know the contracts or who Zoilo Versalles is.

I dont think Abreu would opt out even if he could. It's a good situation for him and this will be his home by then

Don't be so sure. Most seniors want to retire to Arizona from Chicago.
