Thats not accurate. Definitely not in my case and probably not most
JORR and me are saying that "The Plan" was basically a made up construct since it is only the plan until it's not the plan.

You then said how they win doesn't matter and the plan simply needs to be to make the best decisions at the best times.

You quoted this post and so I took it you agreed with it.

Rick and dolphin and jimmypasta have said in mocking Cub fans and the dumb loyalty to a "plan" that you now admit may not even exist?

South, north, east, west has nothing to do with it.

Woah.

That's a decent haul for Lackey. He has the $500K contract next year but what if he retires?

This all boils down to a very basic principle

No matter what Cub fans do, its wrong and to be mocked.

High expectations: Who in the hell do you think you are?

Medium expectations: Oh I thought Theo was a genius?

Low expectations: Well this is why you guys suck. You gotta stop going to the games

Seems like the "plan" was much different at the time of that post, and yet everyone is still seemingly on board with it after it has changed.

Nope. I seem to remember you getting praise for wanting them to be good this year when it was discussed last year.

Cubs fans should expect a playoff appearance next year and nothing else should be acceptable.

The loyalty is to the team, not the plan.

What do you expect Cub fans to do? Be angry if they sign Max Schererser?

I always want the Cubs to win and will like any move that I think helps.

BTW, The sacred talk of "the Plan" and Theo's genius is mostly a Dan Bernstein/Rozner thing

Ive heard Sox fans use the term "the plan" about 10 times as many times as Cub fans

And this proves my point. There is no winning with certain people.

When the plan was supposed to be largely about the minors Sox fans screamed "spend like a big market team!!!"

If they spend Sox fans scream "thats not THE PLAN!!!??"

But the only thing that made giving away three or four seasons okay was the fact that it was part of a very specific plan and a core philosophy. If that plan and core philosophy doesn't exist, then what was the point? To put a bunch of money in Ricketts' bank account? Poor jimmypasta almost died while Theo was throwing away seasons and it apparently wasn't even part of a plan.

90s Braves. "Rebuilding the right way". "Plan for sustained success".

I'm not sure just making "The Plan" up.

I think your problem is that you take it as a personal shot when we are talking about people who aren't you.

I'll be very happy to have as many Cubs fans as possible go on record that "playoffs or bust" is the expectation for next year.

First of all, I dont think signing a free agent pitcher means that the minor league system wasnt restocked.

The main point of the plan was to restock the minor league system, which regardless of what happens in the future, has been achieved.

But either way, there is no loyalty to any plan (excepting Denis and Bernstein)

Most Cub fans just want them to win. Some think restocking the minors with top draft picks is a better gamble than free agents. But most everyone agrees if they win, they win and the HOW isnt gonna matter

We're not talking about signing a free agent pitcher. I said that Epstein has made it pretty clear that he doesn't believe the route to sustained success is paying for performance that a guy has already had for some other team. I agree with that. I'm not bashing Theo. I'm just pointing out how funny it is that some fans (NOT YOU! NOT YOU! SOME! SOME! NOT JUST bERNSTEIN! SOME IN THIS THREAD!!!!!) who acted like Theo and his plan made the Cubs superior to everyone else, now have their cocks out in anticipation of breaking the bank on a long term deal by paying for a pitcher's past performance. If that was what you were going to do, you could have been paying free agents all along and not acting like you were superior to Jim Hendry. But in fairness to Theo, he hasn't actually done it yet and I don't believe he will.

that's a particularly annoying and silly comparison. Why not name specific posters when you are railing against Cubs fans and playing both sides of "you're too optimistic" and "how can you be so pessimistic and still agree with the plan".

It's make the playoffs or bust for me every year. I'm disappointed that magical Theo can't rebuild and contend for a playoff spot last year. However, I see no reason why his rebuild can't work well now that it is halfway along.

I dont know what you're asking then.

Whenever a team celebrates the WS Im pissed it isnt the Cubs.

I want them to win every year. Im not happy with 2008 type seasons because its been a 105 fucking years. Just win already.

My question is simple.

If the Cubs don't make the playoffs next year, is it a failure by Theo and Jed?

If your standards are truly that high then is it fair to call Theo and Jed pretty massive failures?

RPB really, really cares what Sox fans think about him and the way he roots for his team.

I believe RPB and I have the same view on all of it, but he goes out of his way to separate himself from me, Denis, and all other Cubs fans.

Hey Bryan, it is a lot easier if you don't give a fuck.
