Are you serious?

Put Sox Fan Dan Bernstein aside for a moment. Who else said anything to make you believe such a ridiculous notion?

Come on, dude! I can find all kinds of posts suggesting that.

No way. You take everything like that.

If someone said they think building from the ground up is a better idea than buyiing free agents, it doesnt mean they think the team or management is better.

Why does it matter?
No it isn't. No way.

You'd be demanding Theo be fired if that were the case.

I dont know what you're asking then.

Whenever a team celebrates the WS Im pissed it isnt the Cubs.

I want them to win every year. Im not happy with 2008 type seasons because its been a 105 fucking years. Just win already.
My question is simple.

If the Cubs don't make the playoffs next year, is it a failure by Theo and Jed?

If your standards are truly that high then is it fair to call Theo and Jed pretty massive failures?

Yes, failure.

But Im not interested in setting parameters for different parts of the organization to prove that Im a good or informed fan.

I keep it simple. Just win.

Hey Bryan, it is a lot easier if you don't give a fuck.

Its not me I care about. Its the generalization that Cub fans are dumb and uninformed (fostered by Sox fans to make themselves feel better about their team's failures)

Its stereotyping, untrue, and really lame at this point.

It should die a horrible death like other ridiculous stereotypes

But you're not going to change it. Especially when the people you're arguing against don't actually believe it and are just trying to razz you during a disappointing Chicago baseball season.

If a meteor crushed the Earth right now, Theo is the worst GM in Cub history. And yet people, who apparently don't think he's better than anyone else, are just accepting and smiling and happy to have him. He really is a genius!

It's a pretty good thought.

If you don't think he's better than anyone else, how could you accept that he has presided over the worst pile of shit in baseball for three years? It's sort of like believing in God. You just kind of have to accept that one day he's gonna be there for you.

So, if not winning a World Series makes you a "failure" does that mean Billy Beane is a failure and Kenny Williams is a success?

"If a meteor crushed Earth right now...." should be it's own thread.

....then LeBron really treated the fans in Cleveland like shit.
....Billy Beane never should have given everything up for pitching. Look what it got him?
....Jay Cutler was never overpaid as a Bear!
....Hahn's plan was just as good as Theo's!

Chicago is a big market. Oakland is not.

Chicago South Side is a tweener

Kenny is definitely a success. 1 WS = successful GM

"Big Market" refers to the size of the media market.
Chicago=Chicago

Unless everything that IB told/lectured me about in the old CFB re-alignment threads was wrong?

No, I only said that about the Cubs

You're just totally proving what I said about Cub fans not winning wth you

This started as you saying Cub fans should expect playoffs or they have low expectations. So I tell you I need a title and that's TOO HIGH

I want the Cubs to win a World Series as soon as possible and then repeat

Not sure why that's contraversial

Every year Brian Cashman doesnt win a WS is a failure

The Marlins GM doesnt have the same situation

Isn't any exec/team that doesn't win the world series a failure? They failed to win.

Love how you complain about generalizations in a post where you generalize Sox fans into one group.

It's because I don't think you actually believe that.

However, I'm willing to go with it. According to rpb, Theo and Jed are failures if they don't win the World Series in 2015. This should be interesting to track next year.

Billy Beane didn't give up everything for pitching. He gave up everything for two turds whose W/L records should have told him what they were. Maybe Lester can save his bacon though. The Angels are coming, tra-la, tra-la.
