Mac, you ought to go the Adam Carolla route and set up a website (I can help  ) and start a podcast. Why work for the man any longer and put yourself through the misery of basketball and baseball? Just listening to Meat now go through a myriad of baseball statistics makes me want to put forks through my ears, and I'm sure you agree. Initially you won't come close to touching your salary in all likelihood, but at least you'd get to talk about whatever the fuck you want to talk about, and you could potentially make far more in the long run.

I wouldn't go back to this station either. It sucks.

"Dan McNeil on the Score: ‘Game in fourth quarter’

posted on August 1, 2014 at 12:00 am by Robert Feder

Time and patience may be running out for Dan McNeil.

As his latest absence from CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670 stretches into its eighth week, the mercurial midday star seems to be preparing for his exit from the Score. So are his bosses.

“We are still talking,” is all Rod Zimmerman, senior vice president and market manager of CBS Radio Chicago, will say for now. Although Zimmerman won’t confirm whether he’s made McNeil his final offer, he expects to have the matter resolved in the next week or so.

In the meantime, conversations already are under way with potential replacements for McNeil as midday co-host alongside Matt Spiegel, according to insiders.

McNeil at first denied he was in a contract holdout after I reported in June that he was demanding a raise from a reported $300,000 to $500,000 a year and a move to afternoon drive. Since then he apparently hasn’t budged despite his bosses’ refusal to concede on either issue. Now he’s telling friends he’s prepared to sit out a year or more.

“I’m sorry I don’t have any real news on my future at the Score,” McNeil told fans on Facebook Thursday. “We’re still talking, but the game is in the fourth quarter. Sincerest thanks to all who’ve expressed they miss me. Hang tight. I’m not done world shakin’ just yet.”

Im not one of the Mac is phoning it in people, but I really dont think he has the desire to work like Carolla does. He could do a podcast but that comparison is funny because Carolla works way more than any rich person should

Interesting. So Zimmerman already knows the replacement - has narrowed it down to at least 2 - if he can't come to terms with Mac. The tryouts are OVER.

I guess if the backups are reading this and they're not having conversations with Zimmerman, they know they have lost.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling it's gonna be one of these BAD former Bears.

You know what Zim can do? He can hire one of these Bears for the football season only. So a 6 month contract. If ratings are bad, he can get Mac in February. Or he can do a new set of tryouts at that point.

If CBS is jerking him around with shitty offers why shouldn't he say fuck it and do something he's deeply passionate about? Devoting the next few months/years to life fulfilling autism work is a great option instead of talking 4 hours a day on whether peanut butter cheetos are better than hot fudge ruffles.

Mac news always makes the board more fun. Looks like there are a lot more "guests" reading. So everybody give your best effort.

I remember when ESPN fired Mac there were like 200 guest reading the "Mac got fired" thread.

Mac is going to be Howard Stern's sports guy!! YES!! I think Dan is going through a depression. He's thinking fondly of the days when his kids were young and he was hitting on Sherly Crow. Now he's a lonely old man who's given up on the White Sox and has nothing to look forward to besides gambling and high quality porn sites

What did he say?

He probably thinks Mac is overplaying his hand after reading the Sherman article. And should take whatever Zim offers after the Score stuck with him. Plus B&B like to keep their contract situations private. They both probably look down on Mac for making his public.

Terry said something about a caller needing to be put sleep/die for six months. 5'8.5" muttered something about "or take six months offand go to Canada."

I'd imagine Zimmerman isn't gonna drag this out too much longer now that it's hit the media. Wouldn't be surprised if he gave Mac a final offer today and told Mac he has until Monday. I mean at some point you just have to do that.

Still say Mac takes that final offer.

I know he's done well for himself. But it's still tough to turn down 300k for talking sports. I think that was B&B's message to him today as they mocked the hell out of him. Like Good Dolphin once said, the producers at the Score would kill fellow producers to get a full time radio show and that kind of money. (Maybe he didn't exactly say that. But it was something like that. )

I used to care about this ... way back when Mac used to care about doing radio. Now? Unless he rediscovers his passion for radio, I really don't care if he shows back up or not.

He's better when he has someone in the booth with him whose respect he wants (ala Jurko or Terry back in the day). Cleary he giveth not a shit for Spiegel (just like the rest of the listening audience) and it shows.

With Spiegel, Boers and Bernstein taking shots and mocking Mac, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back out of spite and with a vengeance. Them doing this might have lite the fuse again. They always take slight jabs at him when he's around, but when he's gone, they bite, scratch, kick and punch harder. They probably feel safe cuz they all think he's gone. Just be advised, tough guys, he might actually come back. So you can wipe off those grins, Mac knows what you've done...

Good points, forgot about the wife. He has alluded to his wife's work. She does okay but not what one might expect (some inside info there) but he better hope to God that it doesn't rain. Cause she can't support the Macky lifestyle we all know and love. Or at least he knows and loves.
