It's not just his team. I think that it is clearly him too. No star free agent will want to come here because he doesn't want them to. If he can't lead the Bulls to a championship he doesn't want them to win. He's not even a star anymore. He still has to earn that label back.

Are you creating a narrative? Maybe he just didn't want to play with chuck-it-up Pete.

He didn't want LeBron or Bosh either. Noah was the one recruiting them. Somehow Hinrich was the only worthy of a Rose recruiting pitch.

Only 3 more years and the Bull can be serious about competing.
By then Thibs will be gone.

They couldn't trade him if they wanted to. Unfortunately Noah and Taj will be on the back 9 of their careers.

But do you really think it's his job to recruit? Did you read the story about the advice he got from Jeter? And it was a Bulls-approved Sam Smith article! There was hardly enough room on Carmelo's giant wang for the lips of Noah and Gibson and he didn't come here. Recruiting doesn't really work. Guys pretty much go where the money is.

LeBron does a great job at it and Wade should have won Executive of the Year for his role in putting the Heat team together.

That's an oversimplification given that multiple teams often have max cap space to land prime-time free agents. In cases like that, recruiting matters.

Also, Rose apparently thinks it's his job to recruit since he gave Gasol a "hard sell" on the Bulls, according to the linked article. He just didn't want to recruit LeBron or Anthony, probably because he aspires to be an "icon" and is apparently concerned with being overshadowed.

Who is the guy that you think was influenced by another player to sign somewhere? I don''t think it's happened a whole lot, if at all. Every guy is going to go to the best situation for himself. If that means he gets to play with some other goof he likes, all the better.

It happens all the time with young and older players. LeBron and Bosh are the biggest examples. Ray Allen left a lot of money on the table because LeBron and Wade recruited him.

Ray Allen thought he was going to go win another championship. And he got one. It wasn't because of anything LeBron or Wade said to him.

They pitched him on how he could help them win by coming off the bench. That was something that he was opposed to in Boston. It worked according to him.

That's total bullshit. Gasol clearly said, himself, that he called Rose. The 'report' is just garbage. Not surprising considering the source.

Are you kidding me? Wade--> LeBron--> Bosh

That's a damn fine example of the importance of recruiting.

And in another month, we will find out that LeBron has recruited Love to Cleveland.

Add Harden to that list too. He recruited a player that would take away his status as best player.

LeBron and his buddies wanted to go fuck around in South Beach. I doubt Wade had much to do with it other than by being a good enough player that it was going to be an obvious winning situation.

And how is LeBron "recruiting" Love when Love plays for another team?

Well no one will trade for Love unless he commits to signing long term with them.

I know it's not in Rose ' s contract to recruit but aren't there certain things that we're expected to do that are not in our job descriptions? I've had to do things outside my job description... helping plumbers digging trenches and driving materials and going to ejector basin overflow calls and shit. Sometimes the company needs some extra help in the commercial division and sometimes those guys help us out.
You have to be a team player in more way than one in today's NBA. You are paid to do what you do on the court but if you have a chance to help your team attract talent shouldn't you want to help out any way you can even though it's not specifically spelled out in your deal?

I can't stand the guys I worked with who would refuse to do shit because something wasn't in their job description. Those guys had no friends at work, and when they need a favor like swapping an on call day no one will help them.
I wouldn't want to be one of those guys. I do pretty much whatever they ask me to do and to a degree I expect that of my coworkers.

It's not just about being a good employee or teammate either. Even though I do believe there should be enough respect for Noah and Taj to give them a hand. It should be more about winning. Doing whatever it takes to win. Recruiting may help you win a championship.

But couldn't recruiting guys to replace your current teammates be seen as being a bad teammate? That's exactly why it isn't the player's job.

I would imagine that Rose is disliked in the Bulls organization like Meatpants is disliked at The Score.

It is. Thing is everyone including Boozer knew he wasn't coming back and 4 years ago they had $28M in space and 4 players so Rose has never had that issue. Noah is the heart and soul of the team so Rose would have cover if that wasn't the case.

Injuries have nothing to do with why Rose is getting pounded. This kid needs PR guidance, not his dumbass Brother & BJ.

No, he doesn't. His brother and Armstrong work for him. I realize dan bernstein and Jerry Reinsdorf would like Rose to have advisors who do exactly what Jerry wants, but it doesn't really work that way. And Jerry should have been disbarred when he tried to negotiate with Horace Grant when he knew Grant was represented by counsel.

bernstein has been killing this kid for having the temerity to come back on his own schedule when a doctor on Jerry's payroll said he should come back sooner. That's exactly where a whole lot of this crap stems from. All this guy has done is played his ass off when he's been healthy and done good stuff in the community where he grew up.

Wouldn't Jerry have $100M reasons to want Rose to come back when he's healed? I know that the mental recovery is different for everyone but even Rondo came back early even though the Celtics had nothing to play for.

I don't care what Jerry or Berns wants. Apparently you don't understand public relations & branding. You might be the only person in the world who thinks that Derrick is making sound decisions & that Reggie & BJ are helping his career. Rose should own this city. He should be beloved here. He needs someone to coach him & tell him to shut up.

That's dumb. The reason he doesn't "own" the city is the same reason you don't. Neither of you is playing elite basketball. If he comes back and does that, he will "own" the city.

As much as you, bernstein- whoever- wants to tell him how to behave, you don't get to. He and his advisors will decide what's best for him and his career. I'm sorry B.J. Armstrong isn't Jewish. Maybe you need to scold John Paxson for not fostering a better relationship with his top player's agent.

Didn't the same doctor who said Rose should come back at the end of the 2012-13 season almost kill Luol Deng with his misdiagnosis, or does Jerry have a few incompetents on his medical staff?

Wouldn't Jerry have $100M reasons to want Rose to come back when he's healed? I know that the mental recovery is different for everyone but even Rondo came back early even though the Celtics had nothing to play for.

Didn't the same doctor who said Rose should come back at the end of the 2012-13 season almost kill Luol Deng with his misdiagnosis, or does Jerry have a few incompetents on his medical staff?
